Androgen insensitive syndrome is one of the intersex variations whereby a woman has the phenotype of a female but internally, she has no female reproductive organs. Absence of ovaries, uterus, short vagina, failure to see her period, infertility etc. She has the male chromosome XY and is genetically a male. She also has the male gonad (testes) inside of her but externally she has all the features of a woman both her voice too. Most of them do identify as females though they are unable to see their periods and can't get pregnant. The male gonads inside of them are removed else it can become cancerous in the future. Androgen insensitive syndrome has three kinds; Complete androgen insensitive syndrome (where she is born totally a female on the outside but a man on the inside), partial androgen insensitive syndrome (they are born with complicated genitals, theirs are easily spotted at birth), and mild androgen insensitive syndrome (mostly occurs in males). The reason why their bodies develop totally as female despite having the inside of men is because their bodies do not take in the testosterone it produces. Even if you try to change their physical appearance to that of a man by placing them on a bucket of testosterone, their bodies will never react to the testosterone and will never masculinize. Most are raised up as girls especially those with complete androgen insensitive syndrome (they look totally like girls on the outside but their inside is a man, lacking all female reproductive organs and having a male dna and a testes), most of them do identify as girls too. Their vagina's are short and some do surgery to increase the size . Some do identify as males or nonbinary too.
