The theme “Better Knowledge for Better Care” emphasizes the exigency of improving the understanding of the world drug problem. It also explains how National and international cooperation for countering the impact of drugs on health, governance and security will be stimulated by BETTER KNOWLEDGE.
You and i have roles to play in the fight against illicit drug use and drug abuse. The government cannot do it all alone. Show love and care to people who are addicts. Enlighten people rightly on the adverse health consequences of illicit drug use.
Drug Abuse also called substance abuse has become a pandemic in Nigeria especially among young girls of ages below 30. Drug abuse is referred to as the use of certain chemicals for the purpose of creating pleasurable effects on the brain.

Around 190,000 people die due to illicit drugs every year. But the damage visited upon lives and communities does not stop there. Drug abuse damages health while drug trafficking nourishes money laundering, and deadly terrorism.
Say no to drug abuse and trafficking to make our society corruption free
- Problems in interpersonal relationships, at home, school and workplace.

The goals of the Foundation which I represent is to help these young ladies live life without drug. So our proposed treatments are aimed at stopping drug-seeking and use, preventing complications of drug withdrawal, rehabilitation, maintaining abstinence, and preventing relapse. These treatment are dependant on the type of drug being abused, whether addiction is present, and whether there are coexisting health or psychological problems and they include the following

- Cognitive behavioral therapy to work on thought patterns and behavior

- Family therapy to help the family understand the problem and to avoid enabling drug use

- Identification and treatment of coexisting conditions

- Medications to decrease cravings, block withdrawal symptoms, counteract drug effects, or to cause unpleasant side effects if a drug is used

- Motivational incentives to reinforce abstinence

- Motivational interviewing to utilize a person’s readiness to change behaviors

- Rehabilitation to assist those with severe addiction or coexisting mental illness through the initial stages of quitting

- Supervised withdrawal (detoxification) to prevent, recognize and treat physical symptoms of withdrawal

- Support groups

Since we all know that the effects of drug abuse on our young girls and society at large is detrimental, i urge you all to support our Foundation in any way possible and together we can help eradicate drug abuse from our society especially among our young girls.
