Did you know that some of Nigerian's favorite icons in politics, history, and pop culture were born in the month of July. We couldn't possibly name them all, but here are just a handful of lives we'll be celebrating this July.

Below is the list of Nigerian politicians born in the month of July.
1. Ifeanyi Okowa

Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa (born 8 July 1959) is a Nigerian politician who is the incumbent Governor of Delta State.
He was inaugurated as a Governor on 29 May 2015 after winning the state elections conducted in April 2015. Before his governorship, he was elected senator for Delta North, in Delta State, Nigeria, in the April 2011 national elections.
He ran on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He is an Ika from Owa-Alero in Delta State, Nigeria.

2. Alfred Diete-Spiff

Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff was the first Military Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria after it was created from part of the old Eastern Region, Nigeria.
He held office from May 1967 until July 1975 during the military administration of General Yakubu Gowon. He was also a member of the Supreme Military Council.Alfred Diete-Spiff is an Ijaw from Bayelsa State and the Amayanabo (King) of Twon-Brass, Bayelsa State, born on 30 July 1942.

3. Lateef Jakande

Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, (born 23 July 1929) was a journalist who became Governor of Lagos State in Nigeria from 1979 to 1983, and later was Minister of Works under the Sani Abacha military regime (1993–98).
Raufu Olaiya Bakare was part of his active councilors represents Itire Ikate area now called Itire Ikate Local Government.

4. Michael Otedola

Sir Michael Otedola (16 July 1926 – 5 May 2014) was a Nigerian politician and the former Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria. Otedola was born on the 16 July 1926 into a Muslim family at Odoragunsin, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
He died on 5 May 2014 at his residence in his home town of Epe, Lagos.

5. Godwin Obaseki

Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki (born 1 July, 1957 in Benin City, Nigeria) is a Nigerian businessman and politician, who is currently serving as the Executive Governor of Edo State. He was sworn in as the Governor on 12 November 2016.
He was the Chairman of the Edo State Economic and Strategy Team inaugurated by former Governor Adams Oshiomole in March 2009. Obaseki holds post graduate degrees in both Finance and International Business, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers, Nigeria.Obaseki served as executive board member of several private companies including Afrinvest.

6.Samuel Akintola

Late Chief Samuel Ládòkè Akíntolá or "S.L.A."(July 6, 1910 – January 15, 1966) was a Nigerian politician, lawyer, aristocrat and orator who was born in Ogbomosho, of the then Western Region. In addition to serving as one of the founding fathers of modern Nigeria, he was also elevated to the position of Oloye Aare Ona Kakanfo XIII of the Yoruba.

7. Turai Yar'Adua

Hajiya Turai Umar Musa Yar'Adua (born 26 July 1957) is the widow of former Nigerian President and former Katsina State Governor Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.
She was the First Lady of Nigeria from 2007 until the death of her husband, President Yar'Adua, on May 5, 2010.

8. Olusegun Osoba

Chief Olusegun Osoba (born on 15 July 1939 at an Egba settlement in Osogbo) is a Nigerian journalist and politician. Chief Olusegun Osoba was elected on two different occasions as Governor of Ogun State first from January 1992 until November 1993 with the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He was removed from office by Sani Abacha's administration on 17 November 1993. In 1999, he was elected again as governor with the Alliance for Democracy party (AD), holding office between May 1999 and May 2003.

9. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele

Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (born July 29, 1963) popularly known as MOB, is a Nigerian Lawyer, human right activist, politician and member of the 7th National Assembly, 8th National Assembly and 9th National Assembly consecutively representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District of Ekiti state at the Nigerian senate.

10. Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa

Gbenga Bareehu Ashafa (born 22 July 1955) is a second term senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Lagos State.
Senator Ashafa was inaugurated as a second-term senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District in the 8th senate (2015–2019) on 9 June 2015. Ashafa is a member of the All Progressives Congress and serves as a member of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress as well as the Vice Chairman (South West) of the Southern Senators Forum

11. Olufemi Lanlehin

SolagbadLa11.Olufemi.nlehine Olufemi Lanlehin (also Known as SOLAN)is a Nigerian lawyer and politician.
He represented the Oyo South Senatorial district in the 7th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.He contested for the seat of Governor of Oyo state in the 2019 Oyo Stae gubernatorial election under the African Democratic Congress

12. Folorunsho Coker

Folorunsho Coker (born July 27, 1965) is a Nigerian businessman, politician and Director General of Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation since March 2017.
He was formerly the managing director of the number plate production authority of State of Lagos and commissioner for tourism, Arts & Culture and Special Adviser Central Business District in Lagos State. Coker was the chief executive officer of Brown Restaurant and La Casa Group prior to his appointment as commissioner for tourism, Arts & Culture. He was a jury member for the 2nd edition of the Nigerian Travel Awards (NTA). He was a jury member for the 2nd edition of the Nigerian Travel Awards (NTA).
In 1992, Coker was appointed as personal assistant to Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, He was later appointed as the Managing Director of the Number Plate Production Authority of State of Lagos.

13.Abdulrahman Shuaibu Abubakar

Abdulrahman Shuaibu Abubakar FCNA, FNIM, FCMA (born 5 July 1965), the Talban Mubi and Ebubedike Ndigbo of Mubi, is a Nigerian accountant, businessman, philanthropist and lawmaker.
He represents Mubi North/Mubi South/Mahia federal constituency of Adamawa state in the Nigerian House of Representatives, and is a member of the country’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

14. Steve Ayorinde

Steve Oluseyi Ayorinde is the immediate past Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture in Lagos State in Nigeria.
Before that, he was the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, sworn in by His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode on 19 October 2015.
He was also previously the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief of the National Mirror newspaper, and before that, the Editor of The Punch newspaper in Nigeria. He is also regarded as one of Nigeria's best renowned film and art critics, who has served on the Juries for some of the world's most recognised film festivals and awards, such as the Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, AMAA and Mumbai International Film Festival.

15. Abdulrahman Sarki Mukhtar

Major General Abdullahi Sarki Mukhtar (Rtd) was born on July 5, 1949, in Kano State. He was formerly the National security adviser to the president of Nigeria.
Rtd Major General Mukhtar was also a former military governor of Kaduna state and Katsina State, in the case of the latter he was the first administrator or governor.
