The World Bank defines governance as: the manner in which power is exercised in the management of a country's economic and social resources for development

Politics is the set of activities that are associated with making decisions in groups, or other forms of power relations between individuals, such as the distribution of resources or status.

A ward councilor that can not detail his achievements and performance for all to see will be aspiring to be a local government chairperson; a local chairperson that only collected federal allocation and shared it out without accountability will be seeing scheming to be governor; a governor that cannot turn the fortune of their state around for the better is always desperate for a second term; and the president has always been a failure. Nothing good comes out of Nigeria's political offices. It is so bad that an average Nigerian voter always demands that he should be "settled" before voting because they believe the candidate they are voting for has nothing to offer and so should deliver upfront before getting into office.

As result of more of politics than governance, Nigeria has been retrogressing and in a mess; there are no roads; hospitals are slaughter houses; schools are a place to keep the children away from home; no drainage and flooding takes over everywhere.

Nobody can query their elected officials. We all accept we are fatally doomed and nothing can be done. Nigeria can never work, so we all chorus. Nobody is held responsible for all the woes befalling the country. Those that can escape run abroad and the ones remaining accept their condition as designed by fate. Others turn to crime. And nobody is ready to rebuild Nigeria.

It is all politics without governance all over and the citizens are helpless. Nigeria is like a prostitute that all men sleep with but none want to marry her. Nigeria is a case study of how not to govern a country. We must act fast before we become outcasts on the world stage.

Hmm, there was indeed a country.
Nigeria is a place where corrupt people are at the top and funny enough, the ones they punish by not serving well are praising them here and there.

Nobody takes responsibility. Politicians are not accountable to anybody.
