This thread has been created to celebrate acheivers ,who through dint of hardwork and dedication to duty, have carved a niche for themselves in their fields of endeavour.
Its imperative to state that, the main aim of this thread is to enlighten the youths, who the real celebreties and icon are(as against corrupt politicians, wealthy political lobbyists, selfish freedom fighters, moraless celebreties, dubious capitalists etc,who youths today tend to make their role models)
As an addendum to the above, this thread seeks to change the mindset of non nigerians, that nigeria is not all about negativism. As tunrex.dj rightly puts it"Good things do happen in nigeria"
Prior to the advent of the name DORA AKUNYILI in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic sector in nigeria, the whole sector was in shambles. In those days, nigeria bacame the dump sites of fake and adulterated food, drugs and cosmetics. The regulatory body empowered by law-nafdac-became a toothlesss bulldog.Infact, its on record that some staffers of this regulatory body bacame willing tools at the hands of drug barons in their quest to flood teh nigerian market with fake drugs-so as to make excess or abnormal profit.Yes,these drug producers smiled to the banks, but, their stupendousriches came at the expense of innocent lives, wich were either lost or maimed.Fake drugs, foods and cosmetics were wrongly certified as fit for human consumption. The scenario paited above led to the death of thousands of innocent and hardworking lives, whose only fault was to adhere to the dictates of the regulatory body in consuming only "certified" items.
All these changed when professor Dora AKUNYILI was appointed the director general of nafdac. The oficce of the director general in nafdac is basically a political office, whose occupant holds sway, only by the kind prerogative of the president of nigeria.Empty headed politician more often than not find themselves occupying this sensitive position. To be candid, what elicited her emergence can only be attributed to an 'act of the almighty GOD'.IMMEDIATELY SHE ASSUMED DUTY-sensing how bad the situation is-she began the reformation and restructurinf of the regulatory agency itself.Several corrupt and inept staffs were dis engaged while new and vibrant fellows were employed. She made welfare of staffs and training a priority.Immediately, the outfit was fit to perform is roles, she went offensive in her bid to rid nigeria of fake and adulterated consumables.Yes,the "war'' was redhot-as drug cartels never wanted to surrender easily.Dora akunyili continued this crusade, even at the expense of her life.Infact,at one instance, she was attacked and almost assassinated.
Due to the singular effort of this academic extraordinaire, the nigerian market is now 80% free of fake and adulterated consumables. In view of the effort of this professor of pharmacology per excellence, many local and international awards have been bestowed on her.Above all, many souls have been spared the taste of untimely death.
YES,DORA AKUNYILI IS A NIGERIAN AND AM PROUD TO BE A NIGERIAN!!!!!!!!!!

Comments are welcomed.
