32 Trucks And Buses Filled With Troops Sent Yesterday To Jos To Beef Up Security by Nobody: 11:16am On Feb 01, 2011 |
Nigeria’s government sent at least 32 trucks and buses filled with troops yesterday to Jos, the capital of the central state of Plateau where Muslim-Christian fighting has claimed hundreds of lives, ThisDay reported. The soldiers will replace members of a special task force that has been accused of showing bias while operating in the area, the Lagos-based newspaper said, without saying where it got the information. President Goodluck Jonathan has decided against imposing a state of emergency in Plateau, ThisDay said, citing a state government spokesman. More than 200 people have died in sectarian violence in Plateau since multiple bomb blasts in Jos on Christmas Eve killed 80 people, according to New York-based Human Rights Watch. A radical Islamic sect claimed responsibility for the explosions. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-02-01/nigeria-sends-new-troops-for-security-in-jos-thisday-says.html |

Its called Operation Rainbow. Its the kernel of a 10,000 man non-partisan army that will be very high tech, disciplined, law abiding and professional. The army is being carried along in the new Nigeria that is being born. Fresh Air 2011! |

No longer will soldiers join in the Jos massacres and burnings of women and little babies! It is a thing to be happy about! Now we need to send those STF fvkers to Ivory Coast, let them go fight real wars, not wars against little babies. |

blacksta: You will continue to play the part of an unwitting Ciroma poodle by asking such daft questions. Where is the Atiku campaign that was hinged on; "Jonathan is a weak, clueless, coward?" They've been very efficiently and quietly parceled into the bin by the man they described with such words; a thorough disgrace really. Was there any announcement or fanfare before the new troops arrived? Dude, even the STF commander doesn't know who they are. Everything GEJ does is silent and effective, so keep decieving yourself. No one else is fooled. |

make they remove come keep for where?why not deal with offenders than transfer them.I also believe alot of them are trying. But some maybe bad.Lastly if this could trigger a swap then the police should be swapped too!Based on there alleged support of the natives to kill settlers. |

They should just copy the "Operation Yaki" M.O already. That group has been working since 2001 (I think) to keep Kaduna State in pole position as the most peaceful state in Nigeria (no be lie o). They are so efficient, they even hang around public viewing centres when there are Major European league fixtures so that anybody/group that does anyhow will see anyhow . Kudos still to Makarfi! |

There is a reason you separate military and the police, One fights the enemies of the state; the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people! - Admiral Adama - |

Becomrichn: What happen to your maps? How can Plateau be even in any southern Nigeria in case of break up. Plateau is in the heart of Northern Nigeria not even in the central. Plateau state is sandwitch between Bauchi and Nasarawa States, both with large Hausa/Fulbe and muslim population. If people think that the crises in Plateau state will precipitate to some form of agitation for secession of the middle belt from the North, they are wrong. As far as Plateau crises, it is in the best interest of both the Muslims and Christains in Plateau states to bury their hatchets and find a permanent settlement to their problem. Yakubu Gowon knows that. Solomon Lar Knows that. Jonah Jang is just being myopic. |
