It appears there is not end in sight for the suffering of Nigerians. Many Nigerians have argued that the country is increasingly becoming impossible to live in. The cost of everything has gone up significantly, transportation, food prices, fuel, exchange rate and many others. Nigerians have wondered where they went wrong. The suffering of ordinary Nigerians have increased dramatically. Just within the week, a Twitter user @harrisonmbamara shared pictures of a graduate from University of Ibadan who allegedly committed suicide citing difficulties and the hardship of being a Nigerian.

On the 1st of July, the Federal Government reverted the price of petrol to 141 and 143 Naira, an increase in price from 123 Naira. While Nigerians were still complaining. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) said henceforth, stamp duty will be paid on house rent and Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) in line with its new adhesive duty. The FIRS Director, Communications and Liaison Department, Mr Abdullahi Ahmad, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

Whistle Times investigation shows that Nigerians are getting tired of being hit on every side. The name Nigeria is now almost equal to insecurity, yet, active steps are taken to ensure that people suffer as much as possible.

During the announcement of the new stamp duty, Ahmad urged Nigerians and other residents to ensure that documents pertaining to rent or lease agreements for their homes or offices, C of O as well as a list of other common business-related transaction instruments are subjected to authentication with the new FIRS Adhesive Stamp duty. He said this was necessary in order to give the instruments the force of law and make them legally binding on all parties involved in such transactions. He added that the new FIRS Adhesive Stamp Duty came into being at the official inauguration of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Audit and Recovery of Back Years Stamp Duties recently in Abuja.

It is not immediately clear how effective, this new introduction of Stamp duty will be. Nigerians however, hope that president Buhari will make haste and ensure that his promises of a better Nigeria is achieved as soon as practicable.

The only thing that will change nigeria,is protest..nigerians from all the states should converge at abuja and have the roads that leads to aso rock villa and national assembly blocked...2weeks into that protest, buhari must come out.and he should be given conditions that must be met.e.g,

1: constitutional amendment
2: electoral reform
3: death sentence for corrupt politicians
4: restructuring
5: equity in federal character commission
6: fuel 50per litre
7: and others.

Next time they will be mindful of the mass, before taking useless decisions..to avoid another protests.
