“Federal Might” perhaps, the most used phrase among opposition politicians in Nigeria. It means to bring the power of the Federal Government to bear. In Nigeria context, it means using the power of the Federal Government to perpetuate evil, mostly to rig elections and install wrong candidates into office forcefully. A strategy that usually short change ordinary voters and makes it impossible for them to change non performing or wicked leaders. In recent times, almost all elections conducted in Nigeria have been subjected to all manner of legal actions because losers do not believe in the process.

It was a surprised to many when Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe a chieftain of APC, and one time minister of the Federal Republic under PDP, gave a chilling revelation of how elections are conducted and won behind fraudulently. He said, Federal Might play a key role. The one time minister said, he has contested elections so many times and he knows the strategies that politicians deploy. While answering questions on the Morning Show, a programme on Arise TV monitored by Whistle Times about the forth coming elections in Edo and Ondo states. The former minister was blunt. He said elections are hardly conducted in a transparent manner in the country due to federal might. Hence APC will win Edo and Ondo since they have the structure and machinery.

He added, APC will not behave like PDP who lost power. He said, it is not about the people that will queue to vote on election day. Rather it is about the skills of the politicians not the electorate.

He said the popular pattern is that after votes are counted at the pooling units, before the results get to the collation center at the ward, a different result would be prepared and submitted by the party who have INEC’s support. Then by the time the results get to the LGA, it will be a manipulated result then at the end of the exercise, the false result will be declared so that whoever is not satisfied with the process proceed to Election Tribunals.

The APC chieftain said, anybody that attempt to counter his confessions is not being truthful because, this fraudulent pattern he describe is the true nature of our elections.

He added that, the only way Nigerians can have proper elections is by having an electronic elections where results are transmitted directly from the pooling booth.
