Mr Philip Obin, the Technical Assistant to the Vice President on New Media, has commended his boss, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River for their timely intervention in the communal crisis in Erei, Biase Local Government Area of the State.

The commendation follows the deployment of soldiers by the Defence Headquarters, Abuja to the affected communities to maintain peace and order.

Obin in a statement made available to Paradise News on Monday, also lauded the deputy governor, Prof. Ivara Esu and the Executive Chairman of Biase Local Government Council, Princess Adah Charles for their commitments toward ensuring that lasting peace and normalcy returns to the warring clan.

He warned those who are stocking the cannon of destruction among the sister communities not to rejoice too soon as the government is on their trail and will catch up with them to face the law.

The statement reads: “This is to notify the good people of Biase that soldiers are finally back in Erei on peace mission. This is coming two weeks after a team from the Defence Headquarters in Abuja visited, and days after another combined team of NEMA from Abuja and SEMA visited, too.

“By the grace of God, both visits were facilitated by my humble self with support from the government of Cross River state and Biase LGA respectively.

“Special appreciation to my peace-loving and responsive principal, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, for his intervention, especially for finding time, out of his very tight schedules, to meet with our Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Ben Ayade, over the Erei crisis.

“Of course, all of these would not have been possible without the consent, agreement and sundry support of Governor Ben Ayade, who’s the Chief Security Officer of the state and rightly acting as one in this instance.

“Let me also recognise the efforts of our Deputy Governor, Prof Ivara Esu, OFR, Hon. Ogbor Ogbor, representing Biase state constituency, and that of the Executive Chairman of Biase, Mrs Ada Charles who have so far demonstrated unbiased commitment to the people of Biase and a strong resolve to ensure peace returns to Erei as quickly as possible.

“Recognised also are Dr Alfred Mboto, Permanent Secretary on Security in Governor’s office and Mr Ani Esin, the State Security Adviser for Southern Cross River, for their tireless efforts in ensuring security for lives and property in the state. To Mr Rex Obo and his team, your efforts are appreciated, too.

“To the sponsors, facilitators, and fighters of the war, let it be known to you all that the government and security operatives are on your cases, having identified the key players from all ends; those in Calabar, Ugep, Erei, Abia, Ebonyi, Rivers, Abuja, etc, including serving police and military officers from Erei involved; and those whose bank accounts are being used to receive funds to hire militants, arms and ammunition, and those contributing the funds, authorities have all your details.

“Unfortunately, some serving officers from Erei may be dismissed from service soon, on completion of investigations, for illegal activities linked to the crisis in Erei.

“To the leaders of Erei and Biase, here’s another window of opportunity for us to come together once again and continue with the peace and resolution efforts with a view to finding a lasting solution to the security challenges and conflicts in Erei.

“I am still open, committed and available for any sincere talks and processes that would lead to final resolution of the crisis, and hereby call on all well-meaning leaders of Erei and Biase to brace up for this worthy exercise once again.”

Oshibajo will be the voice of the whole South come 2023.

Nigerians don't know a good leader when they see one because they're used to the bad ones. It was a good effort by everyone to restore peace and order to the affected areas of the state. Kudos to Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Gov. Ben Ayade and others.

I've said this several times that Prof Osinbajo will end up as Nigeria best Vice President, he always come through for the masses whenever the masses need him. May God continue to elevate him by his grace (Amen)

Osinbajo has always been a solution provider to any challenges, I could remember when he was Acting president, he commanded the Army chief to relocate to Maiduguri due to unrest by Boko Haram. God bless Osinbajo.
