Only institutions can fight corruption and not the president of a country..nigerians couldn't understand this and thought buhari the no nonsense general would put a halt to corruption by just his utterances.. Nigerians are naive lots.. 1 Like |

IamWonderful:it baffles me when i see people using corrupt practice as a counter argument against anoda corrupt practices. so money should be loot bcuz of oda's shenanigans. CORRUPTION IS CORRUPTION regardless of ethnicity, we nigerians we defend our leaders bcuz of our ethnic affiliation and the sad part is that the money are meant for our betament as a whole nt as a unit or sect of leaders. let us stop justifying corruption with corruption 2 Likes |

We are all thieves directly or indirectly and mind you there is nothing like small thief or big thief. Stealing millions of naira started from One naira. Stop looking at our politicians rather look around you those you do business with whether small or big. Check yourself very well. |

I think we need to consider primitive approaches to deal with corruption in our country. A Professor of African Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Lagos, once postulated that every public officer should be made to swear an oath to the deity of his village that he'd not steal nor criminally enrich himself or his cronies, and that a symbol from the shrine of the deity should be hanged in his office so that every morning, he'd see it as a reminder of the oath he took not to be a criminal in public office. The thesis may be laughable for the uninitiated but on close examination, many of our public service holders fear Sango, Ogun and Amadioha than they fear the Bible and Qur'an and a test run might be helpful. This may be a panacea to our national conundrum of corruption. We know that these politicians would start bribing native doctors, but lets start from somewhere. We are in this country and a human being bought 46 houses. That is madness. People collect contracts and do shoddy jobs. Some agencies have too much money that the urge to steal is irresistible. A second approach was suggested by Jide Otitoju of TVC yesterday. Medical castration. In his argument, many men's status symbol is the women they control, and mostly use the stolen money to rent expensive suites in hotels. If you know that you'd lose your gbola if you are caught stealing, you won't steal. I can bet if you ask many men to choose between their phallus and having money, not many would be given to sacrificing their manhood. Perhaps, the Professor's suggestion and Jide's presentation may be implementable. |

The truth about this matter is that the senate is looking for their cut from NDDC allocation. Since inception, for every #100 that is budgeted for NDDC the Senate takes at lest #80 and NDDC is left with only #20 If the Minister refuses, the senate threatens with a press release of allegations of corruption and investigations. Niger Deltans shouldn’t be deceived that they are getting anything from this kangaroo set up of an agency. On paper, it looks like the agency is getting a whole lot of money but the reality is that the money is shared by the senate committee before it is even disbursed. Guess who heads this senate committee and what region they are from? NDDC has always been hand twisted at the Senate. The problem this time is that Akpabio having been a senator, knows how to negotiate stiffly with them. It seems he is not yielding much. If NDDC had been taking home even half of their allotment, a lot of projects would have been done 1 Like |

When Northerner show up their investment, the Southerners always show their tribalism thinking dat is d North dey always give funds that dey hardly give the Southern region funds and it's the Southern region that have oil products...
