In its pursuance of its objective of minimizing road crashes to the barest minimum, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Sector Command has thematically engaged the executives of Tipper Drivers Union in the state in a crucial meeting.

The meeting which held at the Command's headquarters in Awka, was steered by the state's Sector Commander FRSC, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, and had some top officers of the Command and sizeable number of tipper drivers and members of the union in attendance.

According to a statement signed by the Sector Public Education Officer, RC Pascal A. Anigbo, the primary objective of the meeting was to draw the attention of the tipper drivers to the increasing rate of Road Traffic Crashes involving tippers in the State, as well as inform them of the commencement of Special Operations on Tippers, by FRSC, Anambra State.

The statement reads in parts, "The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi has today Tuesday 7 July, 2020 convened a crucial meeting with executives of various Tipper Unions in Anambra State, to draw their attention to the increasing rate of Road Traffic Crashes involving Tippers in the State and to inform them of the commencement of Special Operations on Tippers, by FRSC Anambra State, as contained in the State House of Assembly "Resolution number 13, 2020", directing the Sector Commander to checkmate the reckless driving of tipper drivers along some major routes in Anambra State.

"Other issues discussed included: Disturbing increase in RTCs' involving Tippers; reckless and dangerous driving, use of illicit drugs and consumption of alcohol by tipper drivers, under age driving.

"Mr Ozoemena Okoye, thanked the Sector Commander on behalf of the Tipper Unions, for deeming it fit to call them to other, he promised that they will further inform and educate their members.

"The Sector Commander, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi has stated that during the Special Operations; any tipper driver found wanting would be apprehended, immediately."
