Nigeria - On Monday, the Nigerian senate passed the anti rape bill into law. The new law will not only help punish criminals but provide justice for victims of rape. It is believed that the law will help reduce the crime drastically. The law is good but the 2 item therein is laughable, how can winking, whistling and unwanted compliment be classified as rape, we still don't know how it would be proven in court but simply saying "omo you fine" to anyone who felt they are ugly can send you to jail. Men who flirt a lot are at risk. One would have thought vulgar words like "Ashewo" and threat to kill would be better than "unwanted compliments."

The law is biased, how can they give an option of fine (5m)for sexual harrassment.Only the poor who cannot pay 5m will be jailed.once again ,the rich made a law to suit themselves.

How does one measure uncomplimentary remarks in law?

Uncomplimentary comments are comments you and I wouldn't want guys to pay our sisters I presume.

There's a reason more companies are having their staff take a compulsory sexual harassment training in the work place.

It can be enforced if the government wants to.

Complimenting a woman's body shape or body parts like the boobs and the ass can be sexual harassment.

You ever heard of "your word against mine" in law? Seems you answered without understanding the question.

The fools in Africa and Nigeria in particular will copy the wrong things from North America and Europe. Sexual harassment crap is a slogan of lesbian movement.

Don't blame me. You asked the wrong question.

You asked how does one "measure" uncomplimentary remarks in law.

In other words, how does one know if a remark is uncomplimentary. That's what that question means which was what I responded to.

Obviously, what you meant was, how could it be PROVEN that uncomplimentary remarks were made, which is a whole different question entirely.

Verbal or written comments of a sexual nature,Terms of endearment, such as calling a co-worker “honey,” “dear,” “sweetheart,” or some similar expression could be sexual harassment. (The effect is the primary issue rather than intent. Even if the person “means nothing to you” or you have “used the term for years” you should be aware that such expressions are inappropriate.)

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. IT IS NEVER THE FAULT OF THE LISTENER BECAUSE THEY CANT LISTEN TO YOUR INTENT.
