Who cares if he signs. This budget is dead in arrival cos our debt profile is high and servicing this debt is 99.7% of Nigeria revenue. So there's no planning that could lead to economic growth when we work with this budget

To put this in context:

Nigeria 2020 budget N10.8 Trillion = about $25 billion

City of New York 2020 budget =$92 billion.

Nigeria has a long way to go. The economy is very unbalanced, too small, and not very productive given the country's large population.

1. And no, so-called industrialization is not going to be the answer. The odds are against us in quite fundamental ways. We are never going to catch China, India and many other countries in this are. Most jobs in Nigerian factories are high risk, low income, low skill types. This cant be the way of the future.

2. Agriculture? It is necessary, but it will never be enough to propel this economy into the modern era.

I think our greatest hope is in information technology, and so we should be prioritising good quality education in STEM subjects. More than anything, IT offers capable Nigerians a more level playing field with the rest of the world. An accomplished programmer in Sambisa forest can stand toe to toe with the best in Seattle or Bangalore and earn a high dollar income without leaving that forest. All he needs is a good laptop, good batteries, and internet connection. And there are plenty of jobs now and many more will come in the future in this area. This is the direction the country should be looking at.

Politicians have been promising industrialisation since 1999, yet there is no sign of it. Many states don't even have a single functioning standard manufacturing outfit after 60 years of independence.

Get your children into STEM subjects and help their future.

Sebastine1994:
if you save 1 naira for a year it's 365 naira total
if you save 1 dollar for a year it's 365 dollars total

but one dollars is equivalent to 365 naira
so you are wasting your time in this country,

a laborer in Nigeria vs a laborer in America is not the same, your money no be mate.

if you have the money, forget this country
You can save 1dollar everyday here in nigeria, 1 dollar is just 390 naira.
So saving 390 naira everyday is equivalent to saving 1 dollar every day for 1 year.
I got your point anyway, am just pointing out something.
