Nigeria Earned $206bn From Oil In Five Years – OPEC by Racoon(m): 7:36pm On Jul 14, 2020
Nigeria, Africa’s top oil producer, generated $206.06bn in revenue from crude oil exports in the last five years, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries has said.

OPEC, in its 2020 Annual Statistical Bulletin released on Monday, said the country’s oil export revenue fell to $45.11bn in 2019 from $54.51bn in 2018.

Nigeria was the fifth biggest revenue-earner last year in OPEC after Saudi Arabia ($202.37bn), Iraq ($80.03bn), Kuwait ($52.43bn) and the United Arab Emirates ($49.64bn).

The country earned $37.98bn from oil exports in 2017, compared to $27.29bn in 2016 and $41.17bn in 2015.

Exports of Nigeria’s crude oil to Europe plunged to 680,600 barrels per day in 2019 from 1.06 million bpd in 2018, according to the report.

The total volume of oil exported to North America slumped by 84 per cent to 27,500 bpd in 2019 while exports to Africa fell by 15.77 per cent to 260,700bpd.

The country’s exports to Asia and the Pacific rose by 71.72 per cent to 664,900 bpd in 2019, while exports to the Middle East jumped from zero to 122,300bpd.

OPEC’s 13 members suffered an 18.4 per cent contraction in their oil export revenue in 2019 on slumping prices, the report showed.

The price of Brent crude, the international oil benchmark, averaged $64 per barrel in 2019, down from $71 per barrel in 2018, according to the US Energy Information Agency.

The value of OPEC petroleum export revenue fell to $564.9bn in 2019 from $692.3bn in 2018 as weak demand growth and continued competition from non-OPEC producers impacted the group.

The figures demonstrate the financial pain OPEC was already facing even before the coronavirus pandemic wiped out nearly a fifth of global oil demand in the second quarter of 2020, according to S&P Global Platts.

The producer group has continued efforts to prop up the market through production cuts, as the oil-dependent governments try to defend prices over market share.

OPEC cut its production by 1.86 million bpd, or six per cent, last year, while non-OPEC output grew by 1.3 million bpd, or 2.9 per cent, the report showed. The group is in the fourth year of coordinated production cuts with 10 allies, including Russia.

The deal for 2019 called for 1.2 million bpd in combined cuts between the 23 countries, though core Gulf OPEC members Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait contributed voluntary additional cuts to help boost the market’s recovery.

Yet Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world.
You got to give it to buhari's regime, the only regime in the world that specializes in creating poverty and hunger within a short period of time. Make buhari president of America today and watch him make America poverty capital of the universe within few years.
It's not about lack of resources that is his problem, it's the ability to creatively manage the little resources and turn it into wealth that is his problem. Besides, a jihadist and sharia fanatic obsessed with FULANIZATION can never be expected make great financial decisions talk more of creating wealth.

Buhari fits perfectly with the parable of the pound (Luke 19:11) - about three men who were given monies to invest and trade by their master. But one of them instead hid his money in the ground and refused to trade for return on investment. In the end, the little money given to him to invest was taken away, thus leaving him in abject poverty.
Buhari is that man that hid his money in the ground. He's devoid of investment skills and technical know how of wealth creation using little resources.
Is it by accident that Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world under buhari's regime? Is it any surprise that the little resources Nigeria has at the moment is being used to service the country's huge debts profile made worse by this regime?
Indeed, a man can't give what doesn't have.

ONE NIGERIA DOES NOT EXIST!

This country is dirt poor! This is less than 20% US annual defence budget.

Notwithstanding, if only we have sincere leaders, from the top to bottom, and they make judicious use of our earnings, we would be a world apart from where we currently are in terms of socioeconomic development.

Coupled with the fact Baba's anticorruption crusade has been bastardized.

Pathetic!

Google CEO said they will be investing $30 billion in to India ICT innovations.
So why can't we invest in this kind of great innovation with our small population unlike India.

Government people are just wasting money. The only thing I know I gain from this Nigeria is the free hotspot I was able to enjoy back then when ever I visit any federal ministry, apart from that nothing I can boost of.

The free hotspot made me who I am today... Since its from federal government had to download many Youtube Tutorials about Web development which amount to 30 Gigabyte or more.

We need help... Total emergency in this wonderful country. Our youth self de help make things worse... Praising politicians like they are God.

Yea the US is a 19 trillion usd economy and a fully industrialized polity.

This same money is more than what all agro selling and mining countries earned altogether in Africa. Combine the earnings of all west and central Africa and it wouldn't reach half of this figure. In the African context it is mad !!!!!!

And all this was earned during the so called 'Baba's' govt. Dont know how the anticorruption fight has ever been taken seriously in the first place. It has always been rhetoric over action.

The leaders led by the Fulani elites are stealing and squandering the money.

And that money is perhaps 15% of the total.

The remaining 85% go into the pocket of foreigners i.e. European ambassadors, senators, presidents, Arab emirs, Western bishops, CEOs of multinational companies, who support and finance the emergence of quacks like Buhari to sit in Aso Rock as your President so they can take billions more annually....

This happens because you guys are black people, who, instead of looking for a solution would rather go with your stupid homeboys and get sections at a bar every weekend while your Oyibo mets are saving their money to invest, instead of looking for a solution look at wearing weaves so you can appear good to useless guys at the club that will take your womanhood for little or nothing, instead of fighting for what is due to you are there running mouth about Manchester United loss against Liverpool, instead of fighting for what is already yours you are calling your cousin in America that you are jealous of to send you N90K as if they can pluck it from a tree in Chicago.....

$206 billion is a lot of money. Ask the government to show us what they did with the money and you will start hearing stories of how previous government earned more and did nothing.

How long are we going to continue in this loop.

Broke ass country.

This is one of the reasons why you have so many poor people in the country coupled with mismanagement and corruption on all levels.

For a country of 200 MILLION people, this is NOTHING. The city of NY alone makes more than this in each quarter of the year.
