The capital side were two points behind Barcelona when La Liga resumed last month but they have since stormed to a 10 match winning streak, going 7 points ahead clear in the process. This marks Los Blancos 34th league triumph and it was a rather unusual one with most of their wins coming off the back of a rock solid defence which has only conceded 23 goals in the league. Following the departure of talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, Real have struggled in front of goal and with last summer star signing Eden Hazard unable to yet make a significant impact due to his injury troubles, thereby placing more importance on a meaner defence. With the final league game to be played on Sunday, Real Madrid will now set their sights on a comeback in the Champions League away leg against Manchester City.
