CrimeRe: Man Says Thief Burnt In Lagos "Deserves To Die" by 5kjobber:
TIME TO STAND UP AGAINST BARBARISM- MY PERSONAL STORY OF HOW MY OWN MOTHER WAS BURTH TO DEATH BY A BARBARIC CROWD IN 1978 AND WHY WE MUST END THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Following my earlier post on facebook (opebanwo2), I was taken aback by the response of someone named Emmanuel who basically was trying to justify why it is okay to burn ‘armed robbers’ on the spot.

So, the time has apparently come for us to have that debate we should have had over 30 years ago, as a nation.

That response from Emmanuel defending the indefensible, made me so angry I almost burst a pipe. Then I remembered that EVERYONE HAS A STORY IN NIGERIA. That is probably why the world is fascinated by Nollywood. Believe it or not, most of those movie plots in Nigerian movies were based on TRUE STORIES, albeit, embellished.

For a start, I can’t believe ANYONE would justify the summary killing of another -jungle-justice style, like some guy just did on Nairaland. His long and short story is that his brother was killed at that junction by armed robbers and that armed robbers are notorious for robbing and killing people at that junction. There, it was nemesis that made them catch this ‘rice stealer’ boy and good for him that he was killed on the spot.

HABA! There is nothing more ungodly, and nothing more barbaric to have this mindset. So, because your brother was killed by armed robbers, so all captured armed robbers must be beaten to death on the spot without trial? Even if it’s a minor boy? Really? Therefore, I said I am ashamed to be part of a people that think like this!

YOU SHOULD NEVER JUSTIFY BARBARISM UNDER ANY GUISE! You cannot justify one act of barbarism with another act of barbarism against another. Even if the person was an armed robber, which is not even the case here, from what I can see. From what I can see, the boy may not be 7 years old but he was a minor
