Locate .thumbnail folder too after enabling show hidden folders and .HV folder... Some thrash do find their way there too... Clear cache and unused apks too...q

The culprit is your app cache.

Go to settings, apps, select Facebook or Instagram, check space used on the phone by clicking on the app, storage then select storage and clear cache.

The Instagram cache can get as big as 2gb, especially if u consume a lot of Instagram info.

Had same issue on my phone and that's what's I did to free space.

Update: Another thing that takes space is your WhatsApp local backup files. It's can take as much as 1gb sef so what I do is check date and leave 2-3 most recent backups while deleting the others. Check the 2nd screenshot
