Why NDIC Should Engage In More Communication Strategies During Pandemic, by Nobody: 9:51am On Jul 20, 2020
The Deputy Managing Director of THISDAY, Kayode Komolafe has urged the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation to engage in more communication strategies during the COVID-19 period so as to be able to reach their targeted audience.

The DMD made this charge during a webinar presentation  on “The Impact of COVID-19 on Effective Corporate Communication and Public Awareness in the NDIC".

Komolafe who was the guest speaker at the webinar noted that the NDIC must understand  and adapt with the new normal.

He  explained that COVID-19 has created its own word and phrases and the NDIC must learn how to use such words as a tool in strategic communication

He suggested that there must be humanising the messaging, less use of technical jargons and improving the activities on the NDIC Website.

He added, "ordinarily, reputation management is a delicate corporate task.  This reality is made more problematic  in a period of  pandemic.

"So, external communication  and general  image projection through virtual relationship with the media require extra caution on the part of not only the corporate affairs department, but also all  members of staff as ambassadors. After all, whatever messaging is put out to the public during the crisis would remain permanent official message of the NDIC.

"The fact that this is crisis period would not be a valid excuse in the event of  legal issues triggered  by the message.

"Beyond that, the culture of effective virtual communication developed during this crisis would be useful during the post-COVID-!9 era because  things may  never be the same again in all aspects of life."
