Very true. This is a huge test for Buhari. Nevertheless, the evidences against Magu are not so concrete, let the truth prevail.

For all I understand, the Justice Ayo Salami(rtd) led Presidential Investigative Panel is not a judicial court but an INVESTIGATIVE PANEL set up by the President to find out what is really happening in EFCC under Magu. Whatever the Panel finds out will basically form the bulk of the evidence in court against the suspended chairman while they can also recommend administrative sanctions like demotion or sack though it can still be challenged at the court by Magu.

I think the issue here is the panel conducting it's affairs in a secret manner to point that Magu is not aware of the allegations against him.

I think the panel's conduct of it's proceedings in the secret is a non issue because it is not a trial but an investigation which can either be open or secret.

What rights does an accused person have?

Several such rights are guaranteed by our constitution.

Several more such rights are contained in our procedural criminal legislation read that to mean that procedural criminal legislation has extended the constitutionally guaranteed rights.

The EFCC under Magu was notorious for trampling on those rights.

A panel headed by a retired jurist should have been different.

It wasn't.

Maybe Magu got served by karma so that he would appreciate that power is transient but laws last forever and that the fight against corruption could have been fought fairly, squarely and lawfully not recklessly, arbitrarily and vindictively.
