Osun state government is considering the development of mobile courts across the state, where anyone who flout the COVID-19 precautionary measures highlighted by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control(NCDC), will be made to put in hours of community service, instead of fines.

This is because the state government is worried about the low in compliance of it citizens to the precautionary measures put in place by the federal government to cutial the spread of corona virus.

In a statement released at the end of the Virtual State Executive Councils meeting, the commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, and made available to Press Men by the Senior Special Assistant(Media) to the Governor, Mabel Aderonke, on Monday, the government expressed worry that inspite of all that has been done to enforce the safety.

Guidelines which includes lockdown, security operations and sensitization aand a large number of people still move around without their face mask, while some are beginning to convene parties and social gatherings.

According to the statement, this breach of safety protocols will further woresen the active community transmission stage the state is in and fighting hard to resist and curtail.

Therefore, the state government will depoly extra measures in the coming days in other to upsacle its fight against the deadly virus.

“The State Government will therefore look to deploy extra measures in the days ahead to upscale its fight against the spread of the pandemic. Part of the measures will be the deployment of a mobile court to conduct instant trials of defaulters, and the prescription of community service to serve as deterrence to defaulters of the NCDC and state government’s guidelines.

“We enjoin religious leaders to continue to enforce the safety protocols of the government in their respective organizations, while also noting that the guidelines set by the government remain in place. “

In another development, considering safe reopening of schools for students in graduating classes and for the sake of writing WASSEC, the state will reopen schools as far as the government put in place every necessary precautions to ensure students are not exposed to the deadly virus.

Part of the measure includes but not only the development of ‘class wardens’ across schools in the state, once schools have been directed to reopen, who will daily monitor and ensure strict compliance to the various safety guidelines.

The state government reiterated it commitment to protect lives of every citizens of Osun State across all ages, saying it is sole responsibility of government to take necessary steps to protect it people from threats of lives and governo Oyetola administration shall continue to do it best in the interest of the people.
