Minimum Wage: Gov Fintiri Has Failed Us,despite Increase In July Faac, fresh Air by TGNEWS(m): 10:26am On Jul 23, 2020
Thursday morning was gross complains by Adamawa civil servants who thronged to various banks in Jimeta-Yola to make withdrawals of their July Salaries.

The state workers lamented that the executive Governor of the state, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru has failed them to have not kept to his promise of New minimum wage salary implementation as directed by the federal government.

The view of many of them suggested that the Governor is no longer a fan of the state's workers because he reverted to old 2019 salaries structure.

A civil servant who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity said the July salary has shocked him after seeing alert with unexplained deductions.

He said Governor Fintiri has started paying them with evil, not what they have agreed to when he was campaigning to be the Governor of the state in 2019.

"We don't expect this from our Governor, he boasts around that Civil servants are his pride and we played a big role in making him a Governor, no matter what it is, he should give us our due wages and allowances.

" The fresh air is now a scam,it is not what we have expected it to be,it is a polluted air" He said

Another Civil Servant who also pleaded to be anonymous he lambasted the state Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to be accomplices of all the ills against the state workers.

He said a major decision of this nature wouldn't have been reached without consulting their leaders.

"For our hard-earned money, which is our rights has been forcefully taken away for no reason because of the weak leadership of our union.

" No Governor will take that sensitive decision without consulting all the stakeholders involved, our leaders are all aware of this and they should come and tell us their interest is for the government and not the collective interest of NLC in the state." He said

All effort to reach the NLC Chairman to this publication proved abortive as all his line were saying"switch off". But our correspondent later gathered that he travelled to Taraba state for a burial and hope to return to state later today.

The Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), comrade Nasiru Babale in his own response said Governor Ahmadu took them by surprise, and it remains a shock to them as there was not any prior information to that effect.

He revealed that the Governor had wanted to do so on the June salary but they had intervened when they got the wind of the information.

Babale worried that there is no basis and excuse for the Governor to do that despite the increase in the Federal account allocation committee(FAAC).

"We are shocked for the Government of Adamawa state to wake up on a Thursday morning to see our salaries been reverted back to 2019 structure with no explanation," Babale said

The image maker of the Governor and the Director of Media and Communications, Mr Solomon Kumangar was not picking up his calls at the time of filing in this report.

To think that Adamawa have started paying July salaries after all the Governors and LGAs Chairmen got their share of FAAC a fourth night ago is commendable.

Cus here in my state (CRS), the Governor and Chairmen will have to delay till 2nd week of August before paying.

Yet, same thing here, they ve revet back to the old voucher thereby paying 18k rather than 30k.

The various union seems to have compromized alot.
Life is very tough, they should pls pay workers their due salaries and keep their billions.
