I remember watching Big Brother Africa as a child in 2002. I even watched shower hour once, and I turned out fine, then again, I was jamming to songs like LL Cool J's Doin' It at the same time

So far so good, my father has never had cause to worry that I will bring shame upon his good name, which is more than I can say for some kids that were starved of any form of exposure to 'things of the world'

Your children will see nonsense, especially in today's internet age. As a parent, you should hope they will see this nonsense with you, so that, you will be able to explain to them, why exactly, such acts should not be practiced. Pray they don't see it outside, or with someone else, that will mislead them.

That is why the show is RATED 18...Most parents miss that part written boldy.

Control your TV remote this period.
Don't tune in to the program when they are around.
There are other measures you can take to avoid them watching the program.

Come to even think of it...
Do you know that most kids whose parents hide everything about sex later end up the worst later in life.
There is this curiosity that stirs up in their spirit that makes them want to uncover and explore that which you hide from them.
If you think am lying, ask most Religious/Strict parents children grin

Most parents give their kids phones. Do you know what they are using it to browse?

Believe me, that thing you are hiding from them, they already know. I was once a teacher, we see what your kids do and shake our heads.

When you interrogate them, they tell you "My Mummy and Daddy use to do it too" grin

I dont think this post should be dismissed out-rightly.... Some people have never used that feature, so this post is just pointing the reason why they should do that at this moment....

Immorality is on the increase in this clime, there are videos of teens practicing sexual act and it was despicable, so as much as adults are at will to watch whatever they wish, they should not expose kids to certain rated shows like BBN etc...Takia

Not all kids are exposed as you think ohh. It depends on how strict a parent is with children upbringing. Forget all these nonsense that kids are exposed.

Nigeria a land filled with hypocrites. There are more than 500 stations you can choose to view including NTA, AIT, LTV etc. Is it BBNaija that's the reason for moral decadence?
op start your moral crusader campaign from politicians.

Well Articulated Write up!

Not only the kids!

This Should be for Anyone and Everyone who Values His/ Her Life!

There are Spirtual forces Unleashed on the earth in these Perilous times. Many things are put out to Distract you and Rope you in some Strange things.

You gat to Be Careful, Watchful and Prayerful!

If not, your Home Might be a Victim or Casualty of some Strange acts in these Strange Seasons!

They That Have Ears to Hear! Let them Hear!

Which one be spiritual forces? All you need is common sense to avoid immoral and trashy distractions I life.

All these spiritual this and that are just bunch of excuses.
This big brother trash and other nonsensical shows are not unique to Nigeria alone. They are found in many nations also, it's up to each individual to decide if they will allow such rubbish to distract them or not.

Hashimyussufamao:
The 5th edition of the contentious reality show, BBNaija has kicked off on Sunday, July 19, with this year’s edition tagged ‘BBNaija lockdown’. Going by the number of streams, messages and traffics under hashtags, unarguably, it is Africa’s largest reality TV show.

The previous editions of the show have always come to light in the spring of academic sessions, when most kids are in school - but unfortunately, the train of this year’s edition took off while the whole world is home alone, and made to stay indoors due to the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

As a show that has raised many dust in the past and still stirring opinions at the moment, BBNaija is undoubtedly, a controversial show. Many criticisms have been levelled against it by clerics, academics, parents and other well-meaning Nigerians, and this was borne out of nothing but its immoral and sexual contents; like live TV sex, kissing, romance, illicit talks, indecent dresses that reveals shapes, cleavages and lots more - all which would be improper for little kids to watch, especially in this lockdown period.

A terrible mistake parents should not afford to make for the next 10 weeks is sleeping with their eyes closed; hence exposing their child(ren) to this dangerous show, else, these innocent kids will have immoralities injected into them. And most of the things they watch on TV, they would love to give a chance to practice, such is just the funny power of their psychological programming. Imagine a situation where kids utter slangs, kiss, romance or practice other filths they have watched from BBNaija show.

Parents should, hence, keep a watch on their children by limiting their access to television or the remote control. Good channels where beneficial and educative programs are available should rather be what kids should be allowed to watch, and not a show that would shape their value system and behaviors in an illicit manner.

Risky!!! Since some parents will be largely at home this period, I don't think it will be as bad as the previous years. Though, the fear is for teenage children and house wives mainly. Those younger kids can't trade anything for their cartoon channels. And the football season will be returning fully soon so the attention will shift further. But in all, we all have choices to make. You can choose not to switch to the channels showing BBN. I don't watch it except for the headlines and reports on NL... I don't even understand how people manage to be entertained when you watch it real time. I prefer the summarised reports posted online here. Atleast, I can be kept abreast with what is trending while still using my time usefully.
Lol @teenage..... teenagers know alot more than what is shown on BBN....

Abeg helep me ask am, dem force am to pay for subscription? Even if dem put gun for him head to pay for subscription, dem prevent am from using the parental control function. Even if dem no let am use parental guidance, dem force him and him pickins eyes open to watch am?

In this day when children as young as 10 have access to the Internet through phones, tablets and computers, someone is complaining and an 18 rated pay TV service.

Well written, children will always want to exercise their rite of passage with the content transmission from the bb naija, our inherited morals, ideals and principles is tantamount to explosion giving birth to moral decadence. Common sense not common at all...........

Be more concerned about what these kids know without watching BBNaija.

A lot of them know more than you and I, just by listening to their friends in school and accessing websites that will shock you!

What parents need to do is be more involved in their children's lives and stop hiding behind religion to avoid building meaningful relationships with them, thereby sending them to look for love and attention from the wrong people!

Since I started watching bb show, it’s either they are playing games or gisting or eviction day. I have never seen them doing bad things. I don’t know if I’m not watching the real thing?
