Reports claim Chelsea will try to sign Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas in the summer, with the Blues ready to offer £50m for the midfielder.

Having already splashed out £50m on Fernando Torres in January, it appears Roman Abramovich is ready to bolster the transfer kitty again in order to bring in another high-profile star.

Fabregas' future with the Gunners has been at the centre of scrutiny for the last two years, following an unsuccessful approach from Barcelona to sign the midfielder.

The 23-year-old has indicated that he would like to return to Spain in the future and the Nou Camp looks to remain his preferred destination, if Arsenal can't persuade him to stay beyond this season.

Chelsea may have the financial backing to challenge anyone in the transfer market, but whether they can persuade Fabregas to remain in the Premier League is another question.
