Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of being "curiously silent" about pervasive corruption and insecurity in Nigeria.

He stated this in a tweet on Saturday.

The ex-governor said Obasanjo helped "foist" President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigerians in 2015 by driving the narrative that incumbent Goodluck Jonathan's administration was corrupt and could not adequately tackle insecurity in the land.

Fayose queried why the former president could not speak up now that the same issues have reared their ugly heads under the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

He spoke against the backdrop of the travails of suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu and revelations of monumental corruption in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

This is just as Boko Haram insurgency and bandit attacks have continued to cause deaths and destruction of property in the North-East and North-West respectively, while violent herdsmen and kidnappers keep Nigerians awake everywhere else.

He wrote, "With the level of corruption and insecurity that we are seeing in Nigeria under this APC govt,  former President Obasanjo is curiously silent.

"And it was because of alleged corruption and insecurity that Obasanjo teamed up with others to foist Buhari on Nigeria."

The ex-governor has continued to hit Obasanjo at every given opportunity since he was impeached for alleged corruption in 2006, a move believed to have the backing of the former president.

However, the Supreme Court overturned the impeachment.

The standard gauge rail line is being fast tracked to ensure almajirins, and people from Niger republic and Chad, Mali a free flow of movement to Lagos and Ibadan, hanging on top of rickety trailers is not comfortable to the almajirins
