The Ministry of Education has announced that exit classes in Secondary schools across the nation will reopen for academic activities on August 4.

A statement released this afternoon July 27, by the Director of Press, Ministry Of Education, Ben Bem Goong, says students in exit classes are to resume immediately after the Salah breaks so they can take their WAEC examinations scheduled to begin August 17.

Goong said this decision was taken at the virtual consultative meeting of the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners of Education in the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Proprietors of Private schools, and Chief Executive of Examination bodies.

The Federal government had initially suspended the reopening of schools due to the increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Sunday school classes are held every Sunday with children gathered without distancing.

Devout Muslims still send their children to learn Koran during this period every Saturday.

Closure of schools in Nigeria is either hypocrisy or irrelevance of human capital development to the government of NIGERIA. Human Capital Development is mostly enveloped in secular and scientific education which must not be taken for granted by any responsible regime of a developed , developing or underdeveloped country especially the last of the three stages which NIGERIA is currently at .

Ask the people who closed the schools how much they value education.

Rgade:

Ask the people who closed the schools how much they value education.

In trying times like these days, "ivy league schools" of ambitious countries spearhead research to proffer drastic solutions . In Nigeria , the Universities are not even well funded so even if they were open, students will only have the faces of angry and stressed lecturers staring at them with no functional modern library and equipped laboratory for academic leisure or relief after a boring day in class.

Finally, I hope they stick to this date and not cancelling it again based on the spike in the virus raging the world. The same virus that they have helplessly failed to curtail here in Nigeria...

Nwaamaikpe, welcome back, your brother greets you.
