AE- FUNAI Management and Corporate Friends Celebrate VC at 56
Commissions Faculty of Law Building.
Two corporate friends of the University, TENECE, ICT Service provider and Native Kitchen, a major restaurant based at Abakaliki, took advantage of the expanded management meeting of the University on Monday 27th July, 2020, to celebrate the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Nwajiuba, who turned 56 on Monday 20th July, 2020.

The duo presented birthday cakes and refreshment to the joy of the Vice-Chancellor and the University officers present at the meeting, with strict adherence to COVID-19 safety Precautions. Prayers and spirit filled songs were rendered in wishing Prof. Nwajiuba God’s blessings and many more fruitful years ahead. VC thanked God for keeping him alive and appreciated the donors and the University officers for all the support and prayers.

As part of activities marking his 56th birthday, Prof. Nwajiuba, accompanied by the management team after the meeting, commissioned the Faculty of Law building, to the admiration of staff present at the event. In his remarks, Prof. Nwajiuba narrated how the University came about achieving the building in a short space of 8 months, which for him is result achieved. He expressed gratitude to God and all those who contributed in no small measures to realising the dream, especially Prof. Smart Otu, Dean of the Faculty. While handing over the building after the commissioning, VC charged the Dean and his team to ensure that the building and the available facilities therein are put into proper use, to uphold the ‘serious’ standing of the University. Prof Otu thanked the University management for providing such facility for the faculty and stated his commitment to taking the faculty to the next level.

Afterwards, Prof. Nwajiuba led the officers to plant trees around the University Anti-Cult arena, Zone A, in keeping with the University Go-Green Initiative towards realising the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of transforming AE-FUNAI to Campus in a Garden.

Earlier, Ag Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Dr. C. Ezeah led heads of the various departments and other officers of the faculty to plant 212 tree seedlings, comprising fruits and shed trees around the faculty building, in support of the Go-Green Initiative.
