A Woman Who Was Denied Medical Attention Finally Laid To Rest. by Desmondokeke: 2:38pm On Aug 04, 2020
There are painful situations and conditions in life. It could be as a result of lost or loss. For the family of onuoha, it was a total grief on Thursday the 30th July 2020 as their wife, mother, sister a d in-law Josephine was buried. Josephine who came to spend time with her people in Lagos was sent back to her huiand children in a body bag due to negligence, carelessness and unprofessional attitude of one doctor Anari Chigozie of the Olowora health center, who confirmed Josephine a covid-19 patient without any type of equipment or test of any kind.the doctor just on sight of Josephine ordered her to a corner of the hospital compound where she was confined and left for hours crying for help.the staff, patients, and passersby who were attracted by Josephine's cry for help were warned by the doctor not to near that corner or be unceremoniously discharged in case of patients. Josephine died after hours of begging for medical attention that she never received. The case was compounded with no means of moving her to another hospital as that was the critical stage of lockdown announced by the government without alternative for emergency cases like this. Equally unfortunate was the visits to the family with covid-19 ambulance and kangaroo fumigation which brought untold stigma to the family and compound where Josephine stayed. It was also quite dissapointing that a journalist Joke Kujenya of the Nations Newspaper on 2nd April 2020 helped to amplify the story of the imaginary confirmed case of covid-19 without any form of investigation. When questions came up like which hospital tested her, which doctor tested her, with which equipment, why no ambulance by the government in a community, when she confirmed, why were they asked to leave by the doctor? The Lagos State health commissioner in his wisdom announced that the Olowora case was not in any way related to covid-19. Now Kosofe/ Ikosi Isheri Lcda health officials were sent with fliers to the vicinity according to them to remove the stigma from the community and say sorry when the damage was already done. As it concerns the remains of the woman, the medical team leader said that they were not asked to talk about the remains of the woman or her burial but only to come and remove stigma and say sorry and so it satnds till now. I wish Josephine's relationship was linked to any powerful man In government, the story will not be the same today. Adieu Aunty Josephine. Rest in peace.
