A student of the University of Technology, Afolabi Emmanuel has been suspended by the institution's management for hacking into Premium Times, an online news publication on the 28th and 29th of February,2020. Emmanuel was said to be a final year student of the Department of Food Science and Technology.
The Deputy Director Corporate Communication of the institution, Adegbenro Adebanjo described the student action as “as an act that constitutes misconduct and misuse of University IT infrastructure''

The letter of suspension of the said student which was dated August 5,2020 according to Adegbenro Adebanjo the University “received a complaint from Premium Times about a Denial of Service, DOS attack on its website between 28th and 29th February 2020 through a concerted vulnerability scanning by a person using IT infrastructure of the University''
