This would be an interesting thread and I think this should be on FP for larger opinions.

When I saw the other thread on FP the other time, about the fake blind woman hunted down by the SA, I also asked this same question but from a legal point of view, such act is purely 'obtaining by false pretence'.
Not only this, there's also 'misleading by false appearance'.
I still remember 'The Joneses' movie. A syndicate hired by companies to sell products. This syndicate falsely portrayed themselves to be a family of father, mother, son and daughter. They move from one location to another to display extravagant wealth to entice and intimidate people in the neighbourhood, thereby gaining opportunity to sell products to brainwashed people. They got to this particular new location with this poor guy and his covetous wife in the neighbourhood. With time the greedy bitch got covetous with the big lifestyle of the Joneses and started pestering her poor husband. Their sweet marriage became sour until one day, when poor guy could no longer satisfy his covetous wife, he tied himself to a heavy machine and drowned himself in the pool and died. When police came, one of the Jones saddened by what happened confessed but it was to late. They were all arrested.
Very interesting and sad movie, it portrayed the rat race and game of deceit everyone is, in life.
The poor trying every dubious means to be like the rich, the rich looking for more cash to keep the lead and stay rich, others displaying fake wealth on social media to look richer than they're. Perhaps many already have all they need, it's this game of always wanting to have more that strips many of joy and satisfaction.

We're all dream chasers in life and we all die trying because there is end to human wants. Only those who are able to strike a balance between what they really need, wanting more and being satisfied, are the ones who live happy, fulfilled lives.
