Just in, an additional allegation has been made towards Ibrahim Magu; the suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC).

This additional case was contained in a petition on alleged extortion and crook intimidation via some people believed to be "Magu Boyz".

The Magu Boyz were said to be a crew EFCC officers who allegedly performed under the leadership/instruction of the former chairman.

Amongst those who verified the existence of the said squad is the former Kaduna Central Senator; Sen. Shehu Sani.

Senator Shehu Sani accused Magu of operating a body he regarded as “a cult” with impunity.

He stated opposite to “the facade, the EFCC has been run with the aid of an inner cult referred to as “the Magu Boyz” or “the Chairman Squad. They are a chosen cream of vicious and merciless officers who function completely and with impunity, and solely document immediately to their boss.

“The internal cult is the darkish and immoral component of the organization engaged in persecution, blackmail, frame-ups and cruelty. The cult has been the wheel in the back of the ordeal of their suspended Boss. Until they are rooted out of the corporation too."

In a petition written by an Johnmary Jideobi; an Abuja-based lawyer, Magu and the boyz were accused of unlawful freezing of accounts of an organization named Damjay Integrated Services Limited in Access Bank.

As gathered by PRNigeria, the petition dated July 28, 2020 was obtained in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on July 29, 2020.

Jideobi affirmed that the subsequent refusal of the financial institution to unfreeze the account, Magu and EFCC were brought before a ruling High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Furthermore, he recalled that Justice O. C. Agbaza announced Magu’s motion as unlawful, criminal and ordered him to at once unfreeze the stated financial institution account on November 21, 2018.

Magu was reportedly said to have flouted such order, even without an appeal against the court order.
