Quality education has remained one of the pivotal areas that Gov. Udom Emmanuel administration has invested so much inorder to secure a bright future for Akwa Ibom people. Education is considered the bedrock of development in every society, and when such critical area is neglected, the doom of society is imminent. The understanding of this truth has made this administration not to leave any stone unturned in ensuring that every Akwa Ibom child is well equipped to compete favourably with their counterparts elsewhere through the provision of free, compulsory and quality education.

It is difficult to watch and overlook certain comments by some elements to tarnish the image of a governor who has sacrificed so much for the growth of Akwa Ibom in all sectors, hence my consistent commentaries which have so far flooded your timeline. I wish to sincerely apologise to you if you feel offended by that. But truth must be told, so that the people won't be carried away with the pocket of lies that some critics are known for.

Some people have resorted to embarking on flabby criticism because they lack what to do. They write without researching their facts, all in an attempt to deceive the public. It's disappointing for someone to claim that this government has done nothing in education, while flaunting a few pictures of dilapidated school building. Why can't the person go around and take pictures of schools renovated, built from scratch and equipped to standard, and compare with the few schools that government attention is underway? It makes the mind to be sick when people deliberately attempt to create scenes where there's none.

When we talk about model/standard schools, what comes first to the mind? Is it not a school equipped with internet facilities, good laboratories, good and ventilated class rooms, clean environment suitable for academic, qualified staff, and other vital indices? Don't we have such schools in Akwa Ibom State?

Gov. Udom Emmanuel administration has constructed 10 Computer Laboratories with internet facilities in 10 secondary schools across the 10 Federal Constituencies, constructed, renovated and equipped over 500 schools to standard in the state, and has equally provided learning facilities through the inter-ministerial Direct Labour Committee since 2015.

Some of these schools were community schools, which the government had taken over 17 already. They were in a very sorry state structure-wise. And since then, construction work had been done. The few that are still remaining would be touched.

Is it possible that all schools can be transformed and transfigured at the same time when we have other sectors that equally demand government attention? Some persons really need tutorials on the operation of government.

Every year, budgets are presented and on approval become the vision documents for the government which captures proposals intended for different sectors and ministries. If the government channels all resources at its disposal to education, what about youth and sports development? What about Agriculture? What about the works ministry? What about commerce and industry? Governance has its modus operandi.

For the first time in the history of the state, this administration has organized an education submit where stakeholders brainstormed on how to reposition the sector for quality and effective education. Problems were highlighted and solutions profered, which the administration is working tirelessly to implement. What do some people really want?

Among other things, this administration has embarked on strategic interventions in Tertiary Institutions in the state such as roads, equipment supplies, academic blocks; payment of subventions to public primary and secondary schools as well as Technical Colleges; payment of over N600 million WAEC and NABTEB fees for indigenes in public secondary schools annually; provision of training aids to mentally and physically challenged pupils at the Special Education Center of the state; provision of training equipment at the Adult and Non-Formal Education Centers; computerization of the Examination Division of the Ministry of Education, and still counting.

These giant strides so far point to what lies ahead for Akwa Ibom people, and such educational foundation is strong enough to take every Akwa Ibom child to greater heights, including special children.

The international community and education stakeholders in the country have commended the governor for the achievements so far. More will be done to reposition the education sector in the state for the security of the future of Akwa Ibom children and youths. This is the heartbeat of Gov. Udom Emmanuel as judged by his speeches and actions to create a future that will accommodate all through the provision of quality education.
