The National Assembly is set to begin the probing of activities of the National Social Investment Programme.

A source revealed to SaharaReporters that the parliamentarians will also organise a public hearing to investigate possible corruption activities in the scheme.

The probe will focus on the activities of the NSIP under the Office of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, and Maryam Uwais, Special Adviser to the President on the NSIP.

“The National Assembly is beginning the process to investigate the NSIP and this will start soon.

“The aim is to expose the corruption that has taken place in the programme while it was under the Vice President.

“Next target is the NSIP and the National Assembly will be focusing the programme under the Vice President and Mrs Uwais’ tenure,” the source said.

The source further stated that the Senate President will champion the probe, adding that Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, will be working with the National Assembly for the purpose.

Activities of the NSIP have come under scrutiny since President Muhammadu Buhari introduced it in 2016.

Some of the programmes under the scheme include N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

The House of Representatives had on Thursday invited Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed; ex-Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun; and Farouq over the spending of N1.7trn on NSIP between 2016 and 2019.

They are to appear before the House Committee on Public Procurement headed by Oluwole Oke.

Did Sahara reporter reset knows that Osinbajo recently recommend the expansion of NSIP in the ESP? NSIP scheme when was under the OVP was ran falwlessly and we never heard non payment of npower stipend like we are having this days.
Both the supervisor and the coordinator of NSIP are always ready to defend the scheme because they built a solid foundation and young and old Nigerians who benefited when the scheme was under the OVP will never forget them. And did you know that they update their portal on a regular too?

The finances for the NSIP was NEVER handled by the Office of the Vice President. The finances were handled by the Bank of Industry, Ministry of Budget and Planning and the CBN.

Secondly, the VP had oversight function over NSIP during that period, he NEVER touched money. So this is obviously a fake news, they have failed because the more they peddle fake news and lies about this man the more love he gets.

Sahara reporters and Fake News are like 5&6. FYI Professor Osinbajo never handled the Finances of the NSIP. His Major concern was the a smooth implementation of the program which he supervised painstakingly.

FAKE NEWS, FAKE NEWS, FAKE NEWS.

The office of the VP was not involved in financial transactions or the disbursement of funds for the National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIPs). The Ministry of Budget and National Planning is in charge of all matters regarding financing, budgeting, procurement and disbursement of funds allocated and released for the N-SIPs so how will they investigate him You see this FAKE NEWS wasn’t constructed well

The've fabricated another lie, who does not know Osinbajo was not involved in the disbursement of cash, he only supervised the scheme by strolling to markets to interact with marketers on how they are benefiting from the scheme.

The disbursement of the funds was done by the Bank of Industry.

FAKE NEWS!!!
Osinbajo never had access to the finances, they were all handled by the BOI and ministry of budget and planning.
The NSIP is even included in the NESP, this will show you that the VP had only GOOD plans for the NSIP and we want it back under his regime.

STOP SPREADING FALSE NEWS.

I personally think the whole NSIP should even return to the Office of Osinbajo. There were less complaints from beneficiaries when it was under him

‪As far as I can remember, NSIP was functioning smoothly when it was under the office of the VP, it was a huge success with the VP in charge. So what is this investigation about? Let them go ahead, his integrity remains intact.‬

NSIP is being financed by the Bank of Industry, Ministry of Budget and Planning and the CBN. The VP only just oversaw the programme when it was under him. He NEVER touched money.

Every dime invested in NSIP was only thoroughly managed by the Bank of Industry, ministry of Budget and planning and CBN.
