[quote author=youthsinitiativ post=92692338]These are humans who truly care about nature and the environment. Abi oooo, whereas in Nigeria people would keep blaming the government ,and never do anything to help the situation. They keep complaining about the nonsense happening in the country yet they do nothing as citizens to change it |

Any country that discovers oil should just keep it in the ground. The millions of animal and plant life that will be destroyed from that one incidence is heart wrenching. They've just destroyed the ecology of that place. |

I think they should sue that company. Talking about the Japanese company that owns that very ship behind the oil spill. I know accidents happen but this can both serve to destroy the economy of Mauritius whilst also defacing one of Africa's most beautiful archipelagos. We can't take that. Such a beautiful place almost gone all because of negligence. Rubbish. Think about the damage done to that reef already. 1 Like |

THEY SHOULD COME TO OIL PRODUCING COMMUNITY IN THE NIGER DELTA REGION AND SEE THAT THE MAURITIUS EXPERIENCE OF SPILLAGE IS JUST A CHILD PLAY. They should travel to Ogoni land in Rivers state, Brass in Bayelsa state and Ogulagha in Delta state and see for themselves gross environmental degradation of oil producing community natural ecosystem. THE PEOPLE SUFFER THE HAZARD OF OIL PRODUCTION WHILE ABUJA POLITICIANS AND STATE GOVERNORS COLLECT THE BIG FINANCIAL RETURN THAT GOES WITH OIL SALES. |

Macsjebs: Oh... So, the ship was sailing under a Flag of Convenience Panama-flagged? I have always had my reservations about ships that sail under flags of convenience. I heard that their safety and labour practices leave a whole lot to be desired because the country of registration hardly cares about enforcing regulations. So, I am no longer surprised at this incident. There must have been some forms of negligence somewhere. Until investigations are concluded... 1 Like |
