does it take someone who has lived in the west to enjoy the freedom of naija ? the unstructured atmosphere. for example, if nepa strikes, this is a wonderful time to put scented aroma candles on, and some lavendar incense, and then curl into a nice corner of the sofa with a good book to read. etc etc. these are wonderful times. why do nigerians not see the beauty in these things ? why do they remain so close minded ? why are their souls and spirits restless and hungry for mundane things ? what evil spirit is causing them such unhappiness in their lives when they have the best tools on earth to be happy ?

it's beautiful only if you a means of escaping. If that's your permanent life, then no. it's not so beautiful

ex oyinbos go to visit third world countries and appreciate the "simple, uncomplicated" life during vacations. but are they willing to stay there permanently? Nope
and come any crisis, they will be the first to be evacuated by their government to safety.

ahhhhh the myopia of the unenlightened lol. oyinbo believe it or not will get home sick for their own country. thats why they may not live permanently in naija. not because, as you put it, they see it as a novelty. somewhere to come bask in 'change'. then bugger off to their own countries afterwards. nahh hun, every man will lust for his place of birth and upbringing.

anyway brb. got a 20 mile drive to make. catch yall latazzzzzzzzzz

ok. replace oyinbo with nigerians in diaspora. many don't return until retirement after decades and decades abroad. they only go to naija for holiday vacation.

You've got to be kidding me, fuchigi.

I somehow agree that it takes a Nigerian who has lived in the West to see the cultural and social beauty, and the economical and bad leadership ugliness in NIgeria.

But who sees the beauty in poor electricity, esp when there's no option? Who sees the beauty in crappy education curriculum? Imagine being a biological/ Chemical research student in Nigeria! Shege! So you telling me that there is a beauty in PHCN going out while trying to dissect a specimen?

Financial freedom in Nigeria is actually nice, tori eni to ba ra ile ni Naijiriya, ko need lati ma san owo osoosu. Sugbon eni ti ko be l'owo, ko le ra ile - the person that buys a home in Nigeria needs not worry about paying mortgage (paid with cash), but the person that does not have money cannot buy a house.

No monthly bills, no cell phone bills (recharge card lol), no water bill (free water in the konga!). Shey you no get food, mango and agbalumo full your backyard. Shey you no get cable? You to your market, you go see free show.

I'm going to pretend that I didnt see the rest of your post. E be like say o ti mu emu yo, koto post thread yii.  angry

Only if, in Nigeria u are among the elite. You can afford the lavender candles, the sofa and even time and freedom to read.

If you are an average Nigerian (who live below poverty line) then definitely you will have a lot to complain.

Food scarcity, cooking with charcoal or firewood, expensive schools for your kids, bad roads, future looking bleak,

Damn to hell with lavender candle. What most Nigerians can afford is what we call "aci bol bol" in Northern Nigeria. A kerosene lantern made out of cough syrup empty bottles.

I agree with Jenifa, Ileke-Idi and Tsiya.

Plus reading in the dark by candlelight is a good way to mess up your eyes, isn't it?
