No fewer than 3 people have been confirmed dead and 6 others hospitalized after a passenger train derailed in Northeast Scotland, indsidenaija can report.

The incident which could be considered tragedy, occurred in the morning of Wednesday, August 12, after a heavy down pour, lightning and thunder storms.

According to the British Transport Police force the tragedy claimed 3 people’s lives while 6 people were injured but their injuries are not considered serious. It is believed that the train driver was part of the casualties.

“Very saidly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, we can confirm that there people have been pronounced dead at the scene,” transport police said in a statement.

It was gathered that the detailed train was not a busy a busy service, “and from (close circuit television) inquiries and witness statements we believe all passengers have been accounted for,” Eddie Wylie, British Transport Police Chief Superintendent, said.

Local lawmaker Andrew Bowie had been in Stonehaven flood damage earlier Wednesday.

However, as at the time of filling this report it hasn’t been confirmed if the flood was the cause of the train derailment.

Serious train accidents are rare in the U.K. The country’s last fatal derailments as in 2017.
