A letter of assumption of office as the Acting Vice Chancellor has been purportedly issued to Prof. Theophilus Omotunde, a prof of sociology by the Governing Council of the University of Lagos headed by Dr Wale Babalakin stating he assumes office as acting vice chancellor with immediate effect.

Speaking via a telephone conversation, the prof of sociology stated that he has resumed office and now in charge because the letter of appointment given to him notified him to do so with immediate effect.

But many feel he could resume officially at the 11th floor of the senate building where the Vice Chancellor's office is situated. This is based on the removal of Prof. Ogundipe just this week by the Governing Council.
