Liverpool To Receive £4.5m If Bayern Munich Wins The UCL by CocoAndice(m): 6:50pm On Aug 15, 2020
Liverpool may have been knocked out of the Champions League before the coronavirus pandemic, but they could still see some financial rewards come their way if Bayern Munich win the competition. The Bundesliga giants put on quite the show on Friday night as they swept aside Barcelona in an almost embarrassing 8-2 victory.

Bayern are now considered the favourites, along with Manchester City to win the competition.

The two sides will face each other in the semi-final on August 19 if City defeat Lyon this evening.

And Pep Guardiola's side will likely be wary of Bayern who will likely be riding high with confidence after their thumping win over Barcelona.

To add insult to injury for Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho came off the bench for Bayern to score twice against his parent club.

Barcelona paid a club-record fee to sign Coutinho back in January 2018.

It hasn't worked out for the Brazilian playmaker though as he was deemed surplus to requirements before being sent out on loan to Bayern.

But Coutinho has struggled to establish himself as a regular in Bayern's starting line-up with the German side not expected to try and sign him permanently this summer.

Liverpool have already moved on from Coutinho, using the money from his departure to sign both Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.

But according to the Mirror, Liverpool could be set to receive more money from Barcelona.

The deal for Coutinho moving to the Nou Camp included plenty of add-ons and one was reportedly a £4.5m fee if Coutinho went on to win the Champions League within two years of joining Barcelona.

Surprisingly though, the clauses are player-specific as opposed to club-specific.

Coutinho's future remains uncertain though with Barcelona expected to make big changes this summer following the humiliating exit from the Champions League.

Multiple reports have suggested Barcelona boss Quique Setien will be fired in the near future.

It's the first time since 2008 that Barcelona have finished a season without winning a trophy.

Coutinho has been linked with a possible return to the Premier League with Arsenal reportedly the frontrunners for his signature.

But it has been suggested the Gunners would look at bringing the 28-year-old on loan.

So who is now to pay the money if Bayern Munich wins?

If they clause isn’t included in the loan deal with Bayern, Bayern may not pay the money o
