To do the calculation:

Start from the couple which is 2. They have 5 sons. 2+5=7. Then each son has 3 sisters. 5 x 3 = 15. 15+7= 22. Then each sisters has one baby . 1 x15 = 15. 22+15= 37



Well done. Good calculation. The extended family is 37.

But only the couple i.e 2 people went to the picnic.

Since just a couple was mentioned, it means one family was involved and 5 sons can't have 3 sisters each...it's one family so each of the 5 sons is the sibling of the 3 sisters and the baby. Plus their dad and mum, making 11 altogether
