The glaucoma is said to be deep and as I said earlier; she can't see with the said eye. She didn't complain before now, but the ophthalmologist said it's been there for about a year. We have since been compliant with the prescribed drugs. We have an appointment on 29th of this month.
Just curious if there will be on operation on both eyes for both glaucoma and cataract or only on the other eye that has been infected with only cataract Thanks
If she has completely lost vision in the eye affected by glaucoma then nothing can be done about it. I guess the aim of the treatment is to prevent the other viable eye from going the same way. The surgery is definitely for the eye with the cataract..

Pls, I need some help.
I don't know if it's cataracts or not. I'm 2014, I noticed my eyes wasn't seeing quite clearly as before so I visited an eye doctor, and she gave me glasses. Fast forward to 2016, it seems the glasses wasn't working well again as I wasnt feeling the eyes, I went back and another glasses was given. Pls note, I see clearly near by things, but when am in class, I need sit in the first two seat, else, board will be blur. In 2019 again, the sight was very poor and the glasses seemed useless. I went back for check and discovered the eyes has further deteriorated, and a new pair of glasses was given. Now, am feeling as though the eyes has further deteriorated and it's giving me serious concern. Pls, any help
I guess you have not been seeing an opthalmologist all this while. Most likely yiu have been seeing an optometrist or an optician hence the reason why he/she has continued to change your glasses. Please visit a Fedral medical Centre(FMC) or Teaching hospital.

Likely a chalezion or stye. Can't tell until I see the affected eye. NB: it can be any other pathology the diagnosis can only be conclusive after an examination ovthe affected eye.

Appreciate your response. I hope it won't have any complication.

I would not be able to tell, until i am able to see the affected eyes.

I would like to ask if you have visited a hospital since it occured, especially to see an opthamologist?
If you havent, i would suggest you do so.

Is the affected person an adult or a child?
The person is 18 years old. He sees normally. This thing started around June. He sees well with two eyes, but he says when he sees with only the left eye, it is normal, but when he sees with the right eye, the right eye is not as sharp as the left eye, both eyes are supposed to be the same. And he says he sees halos, glares and starburst in the night and even in the morning. The colour of the hole (pupil) is black even when dilated. He also sees well in the night. The only thing he says that never happened to him but just happened recently is the presence of halos glares and starburst, and the right eye not as sharp as the left. Please explain

OP Is glaucoma curable like cataract?

I don't know if it's curable.... but a out reducing eye pressure.... weed does. I learned about this yearsss ago from a programme on the benefits of weed. So during an after surgery visit I raised this with the specialist. He said it does but the eye pressure cannot be regulated by weed. Before the surgery... my eye pressure had to be at a certain level..... and that was controlled by medication. I guess weed tea will help.... but how will one know when it is down to normal level? Evidence of reduction of eye pressure..... look at the eyes of regular weed smokers.... always smaller... the harder the smoker the smaller the eyes... set deeper into the sockets... the pressure has reduced big time. Glaucoma medication is basically based on the composition of weed. Just sharing.

so what if this pt is having a progressive myopia ? Which obviously is likely from his narration. you feel oh it may likely be an optometrist examining him and he's not being attended to rightly?

I would advise she sees an opthalmologist preferable at a teaching hospital. There are lots of opticians and optometrists parading as doctors and causing serious irreversible damage yo people vision
pls remove the optometrist from this your write up and stop mis informing the public. You do Know little or nothing about who optometrist are and their scope of training. Stop trying to tarnish the image of a profession you do not know much about. Optometrist are licensed to do what they do and they can be very well held accountable for any mis management of a pt they treat.

Like.Edunews advise... you need to visit a hospital and see an ophthalmologist. Your vision is more important than any degree or whatever. If your only worki g eye goes bad... what would be the use of a degree?Besides that.... you will be putting yourself at risk of serious injuries or.death. From experience.... one may think one eye losing vision is no big deal since the other is fine. It's not like that... if your left eye is good.... you miss everything that's going on on your right side.... including being in danger. You lose depth in vision... like stepping off the sidewalk to the lower street..... both appear to be on the same level... likely to result in a fall. To thread a needle.... if you are successful you would strongly believe you deserve a medal. You know the rest of difficulties.... you know the adjustments you have to remember to make to compensate.... but the danger comes when you don't.

It seems they don't really understand. The truth is that most Nigerians have phobia of going under the blade because of the few sad stories the have heard. You need to find a way of passing th message across that you are progressively lossing your vision. I think on your next visit to the hospital the doctor (ophthalmologist) should find a way of showing then the cataract. Maybe it may swing their decision.
Thanks so much I really do appreciate this little piece it would sure go a long way..
