Ade Adesomoju, Abuja

The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Tuesday, reversed the demotion of the former Commandant of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Academy, Mr Ayo Olowonihi.

The court affirmed the February 26, 2019 judgment of the National Industrial Court which had upturned Olowonihi’s demotion.

Justice Yargata Nimpar, who read the lead judgment of a panel of the Court of Appeal, held that the lower court was right in declaring as invalid the EFCC’s handbook used in disciplining him as it was not approved by the commission.

The court held that his demotion did not follow due process, therefore, unlawful, illegal and should be set aside.

It upheld the judgment of Justice Musa Kado to the effect that while the chairman of the commission or the secretary had the right to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the claimant, it was the commission that had the power to sanction after due consultation with the Federal Civil Service Commission.

It also affirmed the industrial court’s decision ordering the EFCC to reinstate Olowonihi to his position as Detective Commandant, Grade Level 17.

The EFCC had demoted Olowonihi from Grade Level 17 to 16 Step 7 in 2017, two years after he was recalled from suspension without pay when Ibrahim was the Acting Chairman of the EFCC.

Olowonihi had challenged the treatment meted out to him at the National Industrial Court which granted his prayers.

The EFCC appealed against the judgment but lost at the Court of Appeal on Tuesday.

Magu and EFCC are two wrongs.....they can't be trusted.

corruption, injustice and incompetency are associated with Magu.

Magu committed atrocities behind d scene, demoting credible individuals so as to carry out his evil agendas.

Magu should be in jail but like they say "corruption can't fight corruption"

Following the exit of Ibrahim Larmode, Olowonihi was one of those in the commission who were eminently qualified to replace him.He ostensibly lobbied for the top job.

Little did Olowonihi know that his ambition to replace Lamorde did not go down well with Magu. For daring to nurse the ambition to become EFCC chairman, Olowonihi must be taught a lesson.

Congratulations! The injustice Magu metted you have been addressed but will the cabal allow you take over the EFCC as you were in contention before the ousted chair schemed against you? This is the same Magu asking for fair trial after bastardizing the career progress of someone. So much lawlessness and injustice under this government.

Nigerians can't see beyond their noses.
There is a wider conspiracy going on and people are slow to catch on.
I have been following political trends since 2016

* Elections are suddenly becoming inconclusive prompting reruns which are always won by the incumbent party.
* Lop sided political appointments favouring a particular section of the country at the detriment of others.
* Laws which take away the liberties of the citizenry are being passed on a daily.
* Some government officials are now above the law and they are not afraid to show it.
* There is a glaring vacuum of power at the top, the candidate voted for by the citizens is clearly not in charge of the situation.
* Government of the day is very averse to criticism.
Nigeria and the Chinese government suddenly became best of friends which coincided with the sudden change in government relations with the citizens.
* And so many other things time will not permit me to write.

China is teaching Nigerian government how to implement communism.
They want the most populous black country on earth to lean away from western styled democracy and become a one party state like China.
Nigerian leaders have no issues following Chinese communist-driven directives because if successful, it will only further consolidate the running of the affairs of the nation in the hands of the privileged few at the top of the food chain.

Guess it is time to start learning Chinese.

We are too religious a nation to turn Communist, and as the most populous black nation on earth no nation can force any ideology on us. If it didn't happen in the late 70's and the heydays of the east v west bloc, it can not happen now.
