Just 29 days will have passed between Arsenal coming out of the Wembley tunnel to claim their 14th Emirates FA Cup title and taking to the hallowed turf once more to face Liverpool in the FA Community Shield supported by McDonald's.

With 15 wins (including shared titles) and 23 appearances each in the competition, there isn’t much to separate the two teams in the history books but will that translate to the pitch this time?

The Reds ran away with the Premier League last term as they claimed their first league title for 30 years, finishing a mammoth 43 points ahead of the Gunners.
And FA Cup wins in 2001 and 2006 has meant that Liverpool have lifted the Shield twice in the absence of league titles while Arsenal has achieved the feat a staggering eight times over the same period.

Both Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp oversaw their teams' stutter to the end of the season despite the latter being so dominant prior to postponement and the former picking up yet another FA Cup.

But both teams now have the opportunity to start the new season with another trophy for the collection.

Klopp will have the added incentive of losing last year’s Shield after a 1-1 draw with Manchester City and a 5-4 defeat on penalties while Arteta will be aiming to win the Shield with Arsenal as both player and manager having come out on top in 2014 and 2015.

There have been three Community Shields played between the two teams over the years so let’s take a look back at each of them and refresh our memories.

2002 - Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool

Contested at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the 2002 edition saw Arsene Wenger collect the third of his seven winners' medals thanks to a 1-0 victory.

1989 - Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal

Arsenal had just won the 1988-89 Football League and Liverpool had secured a memorable FA Cup victory over bitter rivals Everton to contest the 1989 Community Shield at Wembley.

1979 - Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal

The first ever meeting between the two sides in the competition was played in front of 92,800 fans on 11 August 1979 at the old Wembley Stadium.
