In case you are too Young or not born then, North trusted Obansajo more than any of the candidates to return power back to them just like he did as a military head of state.

Obasanjo was hand picked. He never had any forms of contribution during the formative period of the party. In fact Obasanjo was a preferred candidate of the North just to appease the south west.Mind you PDP was a national party unlike AD and APP. So if the arrangement was such to bring about peace and strengthen the unity of the country by fielding two Yoruba sons to compete against each other, why can't same be done for the igbos.
