The contest should be left for South Easterners just like that of 1998/9 in line with equity and justice.

Did Ekwueme step down for Obasanjo or contest with him in the primary? So, equity to you is to demand with pride from a people what you can never give those people? So that you can continue to boast of having a "manipulating sense" pass them right? That's an insult. There's no equity in arrogance and sense of manipulation.

Do you in all honesty think that Obasanjo stood any chance if that contest was left for him and Ekwueme?

MDM2021:

No contest was left alone for the SW in 1999 if you are not being untruthful to yourself. AD was a party formed in the West by the Yorubas the same way APGA was formed by the Ibos in the East. AD only formed alliance with APP at the presidential level and APGA is not being stopped from doing same. For PDP, a primary election was conducted before OBJ won. Besides, have you gotten an "MKO" like the SW got before 1999 elections?
You'd better chosen the path of humility to gain the heart of the Yorubas by doing what you're supposed to do rather than this flagrant display of arrogance and blackmail. Humility and Pride are like Light and Darkness.

. The argument isn't coming from the point of pride or demand. Rather, from that of equity, justice and fairness.

I'm sure you know that the Abiola saga and the need to compensate the ill done to the South West informed the emergence of Obasanjo in that primaries in a party that Ekwueme almost single handedly founded.

If Nigeria stakeholders could rally round the South West to assuage their ill feelings and heal their wounds. Can't we also rally round the South East to give us a sense of belonging and justice?

So, how many candidates contested with OBJ then? Can we now have the contest left alone for an "Obasanjo" and an "Ekwueme" so that that Obasanjo can receive the greatest defeat of his life?
Let the same scenario of 1998/9 be re-enacted.

Why not? OBJ was once a president and the first military head of state to hand over to a civilian government in Nigeria, even when the fellow he handed over to was not from his tribe. I doubt if you know the honour that the singular act of handing over to a civilian government brought to OBJ globally. On the contrary, Ekwueme was never a president either before or after the 1998 presidential primaries. Whether OBJ had the chance of winning or not, Ekwueme contested with him. If the maxim, one good turn deserves another, is correct, then how are you so sure OBJ wouldn't have won the primary?

Your definition of equity is not in accordance with the dictionary of the English language and you had better stopped this lie and grandstanding. Have Ibos ever stepped than for Yorubas in a presidential election primary? If you are asking for favour, it's a different thing and you have to plead for it not claiming any equity. If the demand is not coming from the point of pride, then one Umeh who once said that it's wrong to give the speakership to the South West will not be asking the same South West people to concede the position of the president for his people. Sorry, that's a big insult from him. Rather, you should advocate for the restructuring of the country.

Then produce your own "Abiola" first and then let that scenario of 1998 be replayed in the exact manner.
