OGUN EXTENDS PALLIATIVE PACKAGES TO 100,000 YOUTHS

Ogun State government in the bid to ease the lockdown has distributed palliatives to over one hundred thousand youths in the state as part of efforts to cushion the effects of the stay-at-home directive.
The palliatives will reduce the pressure that the lockdown comes with and also slow the advance of Covid-19 pandemic.
Ogun Youths led by Abduljabar Ayelagba, the state Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, described the efforts of the Governor as commendable.

A rare picture of the Late Halima Shitu

A pioneer female Hisbah Commander in Kano state, Halima Shitu has died at the age of 55.
According to the family source, she died on Monday after a brief illness in Kano.
“She left behind a husband who is a prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdullah and six children to mourn her. Her eldest son is Malam Abdullah Abdulwahab, a system analyst at Bayero University Kano,” the deceased sister Maimuna Shitu said.
Kano Hisbah Command has benefitted greatly from the contribution of Late Mrs. Shitu.

PRESIDENCY MAKES CLARIFICATION ON REOPENING OF SCHOOLS AS BUHARI RELAXES COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

The Presidency on Tuesday made clarifications on school resumption following the gradual relaxation of the lockdown ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Recall that Buhari had ordered a gradual relaxation of the lockdown starting from Monday next week, but was, however, silent on the reopening of schools.
However, Buhari’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina while featuring on TVC, said schools may re-open for those about to take exams.

Adesina said candidates about to take West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and other examinations may be allowed to go back to school.

CORONAVIRUS: 120 INMATES INFECTED IN 4 TURKISH PRISONS

Abdulhamit Gul, Turkish Justice Minister

One hundred and twenty inmates in Turkey have tested positive for the coronavirus so far in four prisons, Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gul said on Tuesday in Ankara.
The minister added none of the infected was in critical condition.
“All (inmates) are receiving treatment in hospital. There is no inmate in an intensive care unit; all are in a good state of health,” Gul told a televised news conference.
The minister would not disclose the locations of the prisons.

On April 13, Gul reported 17 coronavirus cases in Turkish prisons and said three of them had died of the disease.
