Blasphemy: Falana Appeals Kano Shari’a Court’s Ruling by agwom(m): 3:13pm On Sep 03, 2020
Human rights activist, Femi Falana, has applied to appeal the ruling of a Kano Shari’a court sentencing singer Yahaya Aminu to death by hanging for blaspheming the Prophet Muhammad.

Kano state judiciary said it submitted copies of the judgment to Falana’s representative on Wednesday.

This is coming less than seven days to the expiration of the 30-day allowed by the law for a convict to appeal the judgment.

Babajibo Ibrahim, the spokesman of the Judiciary, said, “The judiciary received a request from Mr Femi Falana’s representative on Tuesday and certified copies of the judgment were made available to him on Wednesday.”

The sentence was passed on August 10.

On August 27, Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje said he was ready to sign the death warrant, if the convict failed to appeal the judgment at the expiration of the 30-day grace.

Yahaya is still in custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

We know that this Sharia law is for the poor... Because, if it wasn't....

Does Sharia support stealing? All those government officials stealing government money and are Muslims have never been tried by the Sharia law enforcement....

I appeal to the accused person to change his religion from Islam to other religion. Then his legal representation can make some points.

God bless Falana, we need more of his type...It's time Southerners start rejecting all Northerners before they start bombing again in the name of Allah.

Why is Falana is crying more than the bereaved? Are there no Muslim lawyers to defend Yahaya Aminu? The Sharia law is for Muslim and Yahaya is a Muslim. Falana should not join in their war. Let the governor who was caught on camera stuffing dollars into his Babaringa sign the dead warrant of Yahaya.

Falana coming out to defend Yaya Aminu is quite courageous but some extremist groups may capitalized on this to create fresh religious crises and this may even endagered the life of Yahaya.

Falana should have stayed out of this issue and let us see if FGN will allow the execution of Yahaya.

Falana too do busy body. They don't really want to hang that boy. If you listened to Ganduje when he was speaking on the issue, he was practically begging the accused to appeal the death sentence but was wishing that a Christian lawyer would come to his aid as the issue was too toxic for a Muslim lawyer to handle. Falana just played into their plan. At long last, the Supreme Court will commute his death sentence to life imprisonment and Ganduje and the muslims shariah board will wash their hands off the whole affair.
