Why is this funny?
You bar KLM, Lufthansa, AirFrance etc... direct flights heading to the EU region, and you allow Turkish Airlines, British airways etc.

This does not limit people from traveling to and fro the supposedly 'restricted' EU region. All that is needed is transit in London, Istanbul etc. then continue to head to the EU zone.

This restriction sounds dumb!

Why not ban the citizens from those countries, rather than the airlines?

By banning the airlines, you are indirectly making things difficult for your citizens who mostly fly these airlines to Nigeria.

Abu Dhabi is not open to visitors, while Dubai is.. Govt only replicated travel restrictions of countries.. Most of Europe isn't open to visitors except UK.. Hence the pattern

Not like that Currently Abu Dhabi is still on lockdown you can't travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi freely Etihad is not flying for now. Government is right.

None of those airlines are important to the majority of Nigerians.

This is commendable from the Hon. Minister.

The balls of steel is required as we have come of age in the country. These countries and airline mentioned here treat Nigerians with disdain and in most cases their flights are over-priced.


Additionally, even when they do finally fly the route the aircraft type is usually not the same as those used for other countries of the same flight time. In most cases than not, you are sure to disembark from the most obscured part of the airport and subjected to extra-scrutiny by the airport managers.

Let them bar them until they show the same reciprocity offered them by our country biko.
