An HND ll student of Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, Miss Yunus Aishat Abidemi has emerged winner of entrepreneurship contest organised by National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS), Kwara Axis.

VOICE AIR MEDIA learnt that the grand finale of the contest was held in Ilorin, the state capital on September 3, 2020 at Kwara Hotel with about 35 contestants from different tertiary institutions in the state.

Aishat in her note of thanks appreciates God for crowning her efforts amidst fellow contestants and further extends her gratitude to Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahaman and his economic driven team, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji and Management team, Fedpoffa Director of Entrepreneurship Development Center ( EDC) Dr. Kenneth Unuafe Oghenekaro, the Head of Mass Communication Department, Mr. Wole Alawode, the SUG President, Comrade Abiola Azeez Adigun and specially commends NANS Kwara Axis for the great opportunity being given to her to participate in the contest.

Speaking further, Aishat said she was the only contestant from the Federal Polytechnic Offa while there were more than four or five contestants from Unilorin, Kwasu, Kwara State Polytechnic and other institutions in the state. She won the contest with the sum two hundred thousand naira ( N200,000.00 ) take home.

While describing the entrepreneurship in her own terms, she said entrepreneurship has gone beyond what a layman defines as running of business ventures or weathering storm alone but an efficient extraction of value and discovering new ways of combining resources and important driver of economic growth and innovation.

Reacting to Aishat’s achievement, the SUG President of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Comrade Adigun acknowledged the courage and brilliant nature of Aishat for coming out as winner amidst other institutions in the state.

He said, ” On behalf of the students of our great institution, I congratulate Miss Yunus Aishat from Mass Communication Department for making us proud. This correlates with the fact that Fedpoffa students are always outstanding technically, academically and morally.”

“She has represented the school very well. Kudos to the management led by Dr. Lateef Olatunji for creating a conducive environment for academic excellence, kudos to Fedpoffa EDC and Mass Communication department at large. I hereby urge all Fedpoffites to continue to be good ambassadors of the fastest growing polytechnic in Nigeria,” he added.

In addition, the Polytechnic Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Olayinka Iroye, speaking on behalf of the Rector congratulated Miss Aishat for her outstanding performance amidst her fellow contestants from other institutions.

He said, ” On behalf of the Rector and Management team, I celebrate with Miss Yunus Aishat for emerging as winner of entrepreneurship contest organized by National Association of Nigerian Students ( NANS). The victory further project our students’ intellectual prowess and we will continue as a Management to support our students in all ramifications.”
