Princewill Rescinds move to Sue Dr. Abiye Sekibo, Mobilizes Group for Amaechi

By Nwaorgu Faustinus

Prince Tonye Princewill, the leader of Princewill Political Associates (PPA) has dropped the idea of suing Dr. Abiye Sekibo, following an appeal from the women leader of PPA, Mrs. Wele Edith who said that it had become necessary in the spirit of the efforts of the reconciliation Committee recently inaugurated by Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi and to avoid giving undue publicity and attention to a drowning politician who as far as the politics of Rivers State was concerned belongs to the past.

Mrs. Wele Edith made the appeal recently when Prince Tonye Princewill, in his Port Harcourt residence hosted the leadership of PPA that included the State, LG and Ward Coordinators, Pastors, Elders and key actors of the new political movement geared at galvanizing more support for the actualization of Amaechi’s vision in Rivers State in ensuring that he gets elected come April 2011.

After donating different gifts and campaign materials in what he termed as a thank you gesture and appreciation for the steadfastness of the Group in spite of the challenges, Princewill accepted that they did it for him and “for the love we have for each other.”

He assured them that their efforts would not be in vain as the Rivers state of their dream with their continued support was achievable under the guidance of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, while reminding them that the biggest opposition to Amaechi was overconfidence, complacency not ACN, APGA or CPC as some of their members were here seated with them to give their support to Amaechi.

“We must work hard to deliver Amaechi by going out and preaching his gospel from door to door and in the field. You know how we do our own. We do it in action, not just in words. Go out and do! Every local government and every ward and every constituency here represented must demonstrate themselves worthy of the name we wear. Popularity does not necessarily equal victory without hard work and effort. You are used to working hard with little or no support, go out and make good things happen in Rivers State. I will support you. Remember firewood comes before heat.”

Dr Mrs. Edith Wele who stormed the area with a multitude of her women told the Prince to go and sleep and watch them work even harder than before.

Prince Tonye Princewill who danced enthusiastically with the women who were singing, ‘Princewill and Amaechi carry us dey go, Princewill and Amaechi carry us dey go’; told the group that as a listening leader, he would drop the idea of suing Sekibo whom he described as an elder brother and fellow Ijaw man.

According to a press statement from the Media Consultant of Princewill Political Associates (PPA), Chief Chukwuemeka Eze said, “Princewill therefore wrote off the N45M he spent in setting up the welcome party he organized to welcome Dr. Abiye Sekibor to the then AC in 2009 particularly now that all Rivers State people have found out he has no program for the state except stopping the Monorail even after 11 billion Naira has already been spent and for promising a new type of security for our people that will apparently “keep them sleeping with both eyes open”. God will surely deliver us from such a curse”.

The Prince concluded with a note of caution telling them that they had made mistakes and not gotten everything right.

“While preaching the gospel, also take time to listen to the people so we can give them an even better service. Listen to their issues. Take nothing for granted. Amaechi wants to do even more.”

Princewill promised members of PPA a new and improved secretariat with meeting facilities and offices for all the directorates from youths, women, pastors, imams, civil society and non indigenes all having a voice in PPA activities.

Also present were key leaders of the Northern, Yoruba, Igbo and other communities’ resident in Port Harcourt.

Astonishingly aside from PDP and some non-political representation, a total of 23 political parties were represented making it a sign of things to come in the support base of Amaechi for the actualization of his re-election bid.
