I am writing a project on the use of natural hallucinogenic or psychedelic plants, as a means of withdrawal or in place of hard drugs.
So far, my research has only shown me oba plant in the east and iboga plant, but iboga is not native to nigeria. Does anyone know

I think hallucinogenic and psychedelic mushrooms are the poisonous ones. We can also be talking about Claviceps purpurea here, although that's not really a plant but a fungus. It is extremely dangerous if I must say.

But in my mum's village, the locals avoid it because of the effect when consumed.

The truth is that I can't really say, but I read that some are more poisonous than psychedelic.

I haven’t tried it but during my service year in Akure, I saw people use it to ‘increase’ the alcohol. The way they acted after drinking, it’s most definitely hallucinogenic.

yes, jegemi is hallucinogenic and also poisonous. the hausas call it "haukata Yaro" meaning to make a child mad. I think the scientific name is datira methel.
