*Rise Edolites, vote and protect your votes*

Come Septemeber 19th 2020, the good people of Edo state will be heading to the polls to elect yet another Governor.
This civil task is quite unique at this point as Gov Obaseki, who is currently spear heading unprecedented industrial revolution in Edo state seeks for a second term in office against the leading opposition candidate of the All progressive Congress (APC), Pastor Ize Iyanmu amongst others.
Quintessential Obaseki whose emergence as the candidate of PDP against vile conjectures, hyperbolic propaganda and hypothetical conspiracy from Adams Oshimole and his likes is a testament of a man whose time has come, because the lifespan of a propaganda is shorter than falsehood.
Charactersitcically, the campaign by the two leading candidates was quite eventful with each candidate presenting his achievements and plans to the good people of Edo state. One must acknowledge the fact that in the midst of economic misfortunes of our dear country, Gov Obaseki has distinguished himself as a prudent manager of resources through the massive infrastructural developement hence validating the code name *"Wake and see Governor"*. The Governor has laid solid foundation for economic prosperity and massive job creation, making Edo state one of the few self reliant states in Nigeria.
As the D-day draws closer, its instructive to remind Edolities that despite the open threats of violence during the polls by thugs loyal to APC and led by Tony Kabaki, Edolites must rise above these agents of darkness and not fall for the shenanigans of politicians who deploy threats as a ploy for rigging elections but rather turn out enmassee on election day and perform their civil responsibility.
From the happenings, its substantially evident that the leading opposition party APC's sole strategy is cause violence, threaten voters, cause voter apathy and then have a field day rigging the election.
By the way, elections can only be rigged when the people fail to protect their votes

*The Task Ahead of Edo people*
The task ahead of every Edolite is to make sure that they form in clusters, barriers, chain breakers against these forces of darkness who plan to rig this election.
The campaign period was a veritable opportunity for all Edolites to consciously interrogate the achievements/promises of both Gov Obaseki and Pastor Ize Iyanmu etc with the aim to make informed decisions.
The task ahead is a choice before the Edo people to rise as one indivisible people and massively turn up to vote and protect their votes against agents of rigging.
A choice between freedom and institutionalization of godfatherism in Edo state.
A choice between proven track record of giant developmental strides under Gov Obaseki and "I will do this, i will that" promises.
A choice between Gov Obaseki who has refused to hand over the treasury of Edo state to some selfish vampires and a willing puppet whose only agenda is to work for the interest of his godfathers.
A choice between light and darkness.
A choice between a fine gentleman with wide experience in public sector governance, and private sector player and a man whose only career is politics.
A choice between selling your votes for few wades of naira and live the next four years in perpetual hardship.
A choice between a highly cerebral Obaseki and a man whose academic certificate is highly questionable.
As a people
When you vote, stay back, don't go home. Observe the process and protect your Vote. That's active citizenship.
The Sept 19th election is a part of deepening the democratic journey in Edo state, be part of that journey by coming out to vote and protecting your vote.
Don't forget, if your votes won't count, politicians won't spend fortunes lobbying for your vote or even attempting to buy them. Now is the opportunity to use your vote wisely to continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Edolities must not fall for the antics of those who cause violence as a tool to prevent you from voting. They are agents of rigging and want to rig your future out. Stand your ground, vote and protect your vote.
Freedom comes with responsibility. Freedom to vote and not to vote lies in their hands but the consequences of making those decisions can't be changed. Therefore, it's quite instructive to be part of the process, vote, encourage your family, friends and foes to go all out to vote on election day and also remain on ground to monitor events.

Don't be tricked by the sugar coated words of desperate politicians who in an attempt to wrestle power, will make all kinds of white elephant promises. Twice beaten, once shy.

Finally, just like in the holy scriptures when Christ opined that "if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into". Same I say to you, be alert for now that you have known how and when election riggers will try to rig the election, be alert and resist them. It's not enough to vote, but pretty much to remain on ground and watch over your vote.
The collective mistake of Nigerians in 2015 and 2019 presidential elections must not repeat itself in Edo state.

Edolites, the choice is yours!

You can either choose to vote for a progressive Edo State, or vote for Godfatherism and Nepotism.
